offredo is purportedly speaking for "the riders" if one is to believe the headline. even david millar has expressed shock and support for contador.

i sure as hell was surprised contador got popped and i believe they all dope. if you think anything a nobody has to say will help "clean up the sport" you are either extremely naive or very new to the sport.

you can take this to the bank: cyclists will be doping long after they are throwing dirt on you and me. i absolutely guarantee it ;).

Well Ed I don't think Offredo is a nobody. He has made it into the elite league (Pro Tour 18 teams 25 riders). Unfortunately you choose to use Millar ( a Maltese raised in Hong Kong but who claims Scottish ancestry) as support for your argument. I also note your support of of the ****er known as the devil as shown by your avatar.

I am acquainted with some Pro Tour riders and I don't think they all dope. Do you only think the big names and americans dope?

I don't know about you but I am a UCI licenced rider and I don't want to clean up the sport but I want riders and officials to enforce all the rules.

One of my best friends is riding for a top Pro Tour team. I can only say that I'm 100% sure he's clean. In fact, he has told me that if he ever gets to a stage where he can't be better or even do his job as a very good domestique, without doping, he will quit instantly. This is from a guy who has been in long breaks and finals in all the spring classics and Milan - San Remo. So he's better than average. His feeling and understanding from talking to older riders is that the level of the riders is much more equal, compared to 6-8 years ago. At the same time, he thinks the top dogs ride awfully fast. :)

Funny. I don't know if anybody is doping, I don't want to know, but it is always easy to say the faster riders are doping. Sort of self protection maybe.

That's why I always have problems with the riders who didn't make it and give the doping reason. I mean, I will never make it (and many, many people more) but that is not down to doping...

Agreed - in this case Millar's opinion carries much more weight than Yohann what's his name's.

How the hell did you get that out of what I said?
My friend has never accused anybody of anything, just felt on own body that the top guys go fast. He's well established and not complaining, just can't tell if it's because of doping or they are just better.

And why is that, would you care to explain?

People know who he is?

He is much more likely to actually know Contador and has raced with him before?

He is more experienced (in cycling and in doping)?

Offredo is supposedly speaking for "the riders" - must have missed him being elected as official spokesperson for the peloton?

Seriously, you have to make a name for yourself in the peloton. Just as Yohann (Yoann?) can't organize the neutralization of a TdF stage, he can't speak for everyone in the peloton.

Therefore, I give more weight to Millar's statement, which seems more carefully thought through.

Lofkvist...

- Asthma, he has, but it will be interesting to see what he says. He claims of course that someone must have put it in his food, but they have their own chef. It's the same every time, everyone must have a good excuse, "said Thomas Löfkvist to eurosport.se.

- It's really sad, it destroys so much. First, he bikes from one in a way that makes you appear ridiculous. Then he gets prize money, he earns huge money. When he is caught then I have to sit and defend cycling against people who take drugs. Sponsors will disappear from the sport and then I get less pay. In other words, you're screwed in every way.

"Gotland", who competes for Team Sky, has met with Contador in lots of competitions and describes him as a good person. Although the Spaniard is a superstar in the sport of cycling, he is no diva.

- It's more of a surprise when someone like that goes down. There are many idiots that do not surprise you. I do not understand that people do not learn, I do not get it together. Contador is still so good and should stay within the rules.

Has there been suspicions against Contador in the race?

- All who go fast'll have suspicions against them, sadly. But there have been no alleged suspicions against him in particular.

Who the hell is Yoann Offredo?
A friend of Linus Gerdemann perhaps...

Actually, Yoann is a 23 year old French Pro.
Maybe he is actually clean, but you never know.

Anyway, cool simile:

Yoann said:
&#8220] about the Clenbuterol because we’d really have expected something else. It’s like the tree that hides [in] the forest.

The forest, I presume, is blood doping; the single tree = the trace amount of clen...
(btw, anyone have the complete article from RMC.fr/)

Mr Offredo continues:
Mr Offredo said:
&#8220]we’re not that shocked[/b].”

I can understand the not being shocked yawn.
But how about getting angry! Grrrr.

C'mon guys, young riders. Start tweeting. Grrrr again.
Do not put up with this crap. It is your Sport.

Take up the challenge that Greg L blogged in his final TdF installment

Offredo was the guy who went on a suicidal breakaway in the last 20km of this year's Milan - San Remo. He also rates Yoann Offredo pretty highly by stating he will win MSR, the RVV, and Paris - Roubaix, in that order.

All while wearing the Rainbow jersey, obviously.

(You heard it here first.)

Didn't the almost frantic exodus by riders and staff from Saxo Bank seem a little strange to anyone else? Think about it. Word gets a around, people hear things. Nobody wants to be part of a ship that might sink at any time...

makes you wonder...

Seems you give Millar more credit than Offredo, coz you know him of his dope past (otherwise you wouldn´t even know how to spell his name, as you don´t even know the Name of Offredo. That´s the problem with the 3-Weeks-TdF-Fanboys, they only know the dopers front seven).

Or is Millar the "speaker" of the peloton?

Little detail: The exodus started way before this story.

I thought you meant that by saying the top guys were quicker.

But anyway, you hear it often from riders who didn't make it. I always have my doubts when I hear statements like that.

What are you talking about? Christian may not post as much as others, but he does post year round.

lol? rofl?

1) I spelled Offredo's name like the OP did - there seemd to be some confusion going on as of how to spell his name. Granted, it's not the easiest.

2) I know Millar cause he's been a pro for 13 years and has a crapload of big victories - regardless of how he achieved them

3) I actually avoid this forum during the TdF because people (like you) get so intense about their opinions it's impossible to have a normal discussion. I am more than happy when it's over so we can have cordial discussions about Trofeo Mallorca and Tirreno-Adriatico again. Not so sure whether that will be possible with you though.

so basically A rider, ONE, says he isn't surprised and another says Contador must prove he is innocent. Out of a peloton of 200 that is hardly a huge amount, in percentage is prob lower than the percentage of Clenbuterol

I got talking to a Pro during the 08 Giro and he was amazed by the pace of the top guys in the mountains, he said something along the lines of "those guys are on something else" Now go back and look at the top names from that Giro, how many have tested positive since then. Contador, Ricco, Pellizotti, Sella, Di Luca, Bosisio, Priamo, Colom.

I dont know if the smaller guys are completely clean but most of the top guys do have the best stuff.

If Yohann Gène is doping, then he must be doing it wrong. I also think if Gerald Ciolek is doping, then he is also doing it wrong.

With Omerta being so rife through the peloton i''m not sure riders would just admit what is going on to just anyone they chat to
