The Shrinking Vuelta

Yeah, it's not like it's been talked about many times in the last decade, including by the organizers themselves.

Anyway, I love that our silly jokes day is different from everyone else's. We caught everybody off their guards all the time.

I don't care about talking smack I simply can't stand people that are stupid or say stupid things. with one brain cell one could think this isn't true. that's not even a trustable cycling source anyway

that is neat, looks like Messi on the first one. We need a Pat Mcquaid and a Vlad Putin version of those models. :p Not a prophet Mohamed one though for obvious reasons.

Absolutely delighted its not true. I was worried there for a minute.

I guess if pat mcquaid had his way he would not just do it to the vuelta he would also do it the giro.

He said it in this interview:

http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/6...duce-the-duration-of-the-Giro-and-Vuelta.aspx

That piece ****ed me off so much I remember exactly where I was and what my thoughts were and what the time was, when I read it.

It was the moment Mcquaid crossed the Rubicon for me. From then on I could not support any policy in cycling that left that man in charge.

To think the **** then had the audacity to make a video appearance at the Giro route presentation saying " We at the UCi have always seen the Giro as a special race"

**** him.

I think any support mcquaid had amoung cycling fans went out the window with his comments about reducing the giro and the vuelta.

I am just wondering if he really pushed for this would RCS run the giro and ASO and Unipublic run the vuelta as a three week race outside the UCI jurisdiction.

the RCS definitively would, no way would the italians let the giro be disrespected like that. the spanish wouldn't like the decision either so it wouldn't surprise me to see the 3 organizations splitting from the UCI and taking with them all the races they organize like they did in the past.

What McQuaid & the UCI need to remember is that between them RCS & ASO own most of the top races. ASO own the Tour, P-R LBL & Flèche. RCS own MSR, Lombardia & the Giro. As a result they wield enormous clout within the sport. Pat needs them, not the other way round.
