It's mostly about the amount of time they've been around, the amount of serious GT attempts they've done, and the era in which they hit their prime.

Evenepoel is ofcourse better than Yates, but he's only been better for 3 years, and in 3 years 1 GT win is not an outrageously low strike rate for the 4th best GT rider of given period.

Not at the same age.
Remco is stll very young. He's got time on his side.

Very difficult to answer because the mechanics of the race changes completely. Now Remco will need a big team to defend his lead, does he have one? he would be so vulnerable the last week.

What about Almeida. One thing is to be in the shadow of someone, the other would be to be sole leader. Pressure is completely different. He couldn't handle the Giro, now we expect him to go for leadership of the Tour?

Roglic is aging faster than we think. Plus the crashes factor becomes a big deal.

That said, it would definitely make for a more thrilling race.

And when he's not on his bike, he uses a mobility scooter to get around. But don't let that fool you, i.e. he's still got what it takes to top 5 or even podium the TdF.

It's the Rogla way.

At some point (during the Giro 2023?) Rogla almost wasn't able to walk but was more or less ok riding his bike (and won the race at the end). The ability to walk isn't necessary to win the Tour. It's ok to use a wheelchair during podium ceremonies (the last man standing would have a new meaning!)
