The worst of race profiles

OK, this is a map, not a profile, but it deserves to be preserved for its pointlessness. All the interesting detail is in the last part, so let's label it all for clarity:

Crazy that they can't come up with a better system.

I like their profiles a lot but the maps are trash (even if this one is particularly funny).

Well it started in Lhasa and finished in Lhasa, and did 9 laps in 90 kilometres, so I'm say never more than 5km from Lhasa.

PCS thinks it is 80 km longer: They have listed the stage as 124 km.

But it's short because there is a MTT the same day.

Colombians are built differently. Sixth stage of this year's Vuelta a Colombia starts at 2600m, casually descending to almost sea level and then finishing at 3200m.

All the while with a profile/axes making in look like a pretty casual 230km ride.

This is a serious candidate for the worst stage in recent memory (Vuelta 2025, stage 4). Not only those big climbs are wasted regarding the GC fight but look what a legendary climb was ignored here (hint: stage starting town).

Tbf having the Finestre at the start of the stage would be pretty pointless. But it's an absolutely tragic stage profile regardless.

It's good to see race organizers finally care about rider safety and neutralize the high-altitude parts of the stage.

They forgot to get rid of the sharp, steep descents though. Or should we rather worry about punctures on that route?

I thought it was kind of fun for a sprint stage. Gave the sprinters a little exercise.
