Thor comes across as a massive hypocrite. Here is his excuse for why he defended Lance

He had no problem crucifying Floyd

Aren't those two entirely different circumstances? These guys aren't MENSA members yet it seems like they are held to standards that are intellectually above them. This isn't really directed at you but how differrent is the mentality of they all dope so he dopes any different from racial stereoptying.

To be fair at that point Floyd had just been convicted of hacking an anti doping lab.

Ha, true.

Floyd is hardly the only doper Thor jumped on. He was often a go to guy for a quote when a rider was busted. He had no problem jumping on plenty if dopers....but he held his tongue when it came to Lance

Yes, he's a massive hypocrite. A massive hypocrite that had a nice, long, cycling career working in a thoroughly corrupt sport.

I would argue he seems acutely aware of the politics of the time but did not execute his messages very well. It seems like that's a pretty impossible task anyway.

Hard to take seriously what he is saying today

Hard to take ANYTHING Thor says even remotely serious. He's completely full of poop, and he knows it. He's trying to play the Georgie card here, where he just turns a blind eye to things so he can garner sympathy/empathy from folks. Does anyone know: Is Thor about to open any B&B's soon?

the year Jamie Burrow set the record for Platueau de Beille, in an espoirs race, Ronde L'Izard or l'Izard or L'Isard or L'Isard, I think it may be Ronde l'Isard... anyhoo,

in the year Burrow beats Pantani's PdB ascent record, IN A FREEKIN espoir race, Thor was climbing with the front of those grimpeurs... make that what you will. He would also win the espoir World chrono either this year, the year before, or the year after. (Libertine Seguros is the lass with the mostest, and will correct it)

climbing with the grimpeurs in the espoirs.

good grief

no, sounds legit

its a play on an aussie meme, host with the mostest (sic), so i cant really appeal to my usual originality and take credit.

in australian idiom, that grammar error is prolly(sic) i) felicitous, and ii) an improvement on the norm.

procycling.no took some more time reading the book and is interested in more than just Armstrong and hair transplants.

http://www.procycling.no/jeg-folte-meg-motarbeidet/

He claims Vaughters sponsors were desperate to keep him on the team and even offered to let get rid of Vaughters if he stayed.

In 2011 Hushovd had one of his better TdF's. He wore the yellow jersey for a week and won two stages. At the end of the season Garmin was desperate. They wanted to keep their star.

The sponsors even offered to sack Vaughters to keep Hushovd. But Hushovd didnt even consider the offer.

"I was so tired of that man that I could never have continued.. Yet it was a victory for me that the team wanted me to continue, despite the conflict with Vaughters. It can not have been easy for him to offer me the new contract after all we had been through. "

JV is part owner of the team.....was he going to fire himself?

Looking back at the last 2 years I bet Garmin is happy he went to BMC

None of it makes sense. If they sack Vaughters (as if they could) why would he then say he rejected the offer because he couldn't stand the thought of having to work with him anymore? Maybe there is some grain of something somewhere in the story, but the details doesn't add up.

Yeah, it does not make sense.
"Chemistry" issues, saying he would not race GW unless he was paid 400,000 euros. Sounds like a prima donna

400k NOK, not euros

still, getting 25k euros just to start GW out of a tightwad like Vaughters is funny
