Thread planning

To quote myself:
If posts pertaining solely to the Vuelta and not to politics are not always allowed in the Vuelta thread, then the value of a Vuelta thread becomes quite limited.
I have put upwards of 60 hours into the 16 stage threads I have posted so far. I am upset to say the least that I have done all that work, only to see some of the things I make such a thread for being deemed out of limits. Therefore, I will be doing zero stage and race threads until further notice - I am absolutely not willing to put several hours into a thread that I can only partially use for its intended purpose.

I'm grateful for the ones we've had, they helped what has otherwise not been the best GT.

Would it be possible to convince you to do scaled-back versions, just the graphics and stuff?

Posted on the race thread before I found this one:

Perhaps some pushback against what the OP has identified as overly zealous moderation is in order. I would have thought that on a site that relies solely on input from fans for its content, contributors -- that is, all of us, including the inimitable Devil's Elbow with his great scene-setters -- would have some agency.

Not sure how to leverage that but perhaps fellow readers have ideas.

As others have said, Devil's Elbow's previews are some of the very best things about this forum and would be a very sad loss. But in terms of community pushback potential I'd suggest that it is very limited, as my guess is the owners of this site are close to pulling the plug on the forum as it is. I've seen many forums that I'm a member of close down in recent years, as the site owners decide the cons outweigh the pros and things shift to social media. I doubt the traffic to this forum is a decisive consideration in their business plans.

The administrators seem to have decided they don't want to host political discussion of any kind, have gone with a broad definition, and the mods have to enforce it (mods getting fed up with being in the firing line and stepping down is another factor which may soon cause the end of the forum). As frustrating as some may find the restrictions here, I'll still miss it when it's gone.

I will make a poll of the worst GT in the 21st century after the Vuelta. The Giro candidates are clear after the poll two years ago. The GT elimination game provided options from the 2010s. So I'm most in doubt of what the best poll options are before that. Was 2002 the worst Armstrong Tour? 2006 could be a candidate for clinic reasons. 2009 is a given. Is 2007 the best Vuelta option?
