And we managed 44 posts about the 1.2 race before discussion shifted to the pro races. The bar a race needs to clear to generate interest on the forum is always at its lowest this time of year.

I rarely look at this thread: I assumed it does not much more than allow someone to say "I'm about to make a thread for race X" so that effort is not duplicated before something is posted, and as such, it didn't bother me much as a contributor (I very rarely start race threads) or as moderator(I didn't imagine it would be controversial)

As a reader/person passing comment, I would be happy to see (as I said a few posts up) as many separate race threads as people are bothered to open: it seems to me that it hurts no-one if a thread is opened that ends up getting little traffic, and more threads means less confusion in following them, and greater ease in finding them (I would hate to be in a position of wanting to know what anyone had said about e.g., the 2019 CEGORR buried somewhere in that megathread)

If there is interest in restructuring the pattern of threads, that is eminently doable, let's have a sensible discussion about it.

Maybe there are grounds to have more subforums: having specific areas for races, riders, teams and general issues might be a way forward, whether those would then be replicated for separate women's cycling related subforums could be discussed. Personally, I always come to the forum via the "What's New" screen, so the classification by subcategory is very secondary to me.

So if anyone wants to open that discussion, make proposals, be open to counter-proposals, by all means do so: I would suggest in the Forum Feedback section (which is probably where this thread more properly belongs)

But let's do that in a spirit of civility and not with the attitude that saw a few posts here this morning deleted.

That is also the intended purpose of this thread, and what it's used for about 80% of the time.
