I will make a poll of the worst GT in the 21st century after the Vuelta. The Giro candidates are clear after the poll two years ago. The GT elimination game provided options from the 2010s. So I'm most in doubt of what the best poll options are before that. Was 2002 the worst Armstrong Tour? 2006 could be a candidate for clinic reasons. 2009 is a given. Is 2007 the best Vuelta option?

I've got fond memories of the 2006 Tour. Most of the Armstrong Tours are clearly worse for me (2003 being the clear exception).

I think it's good to have options that cover different ground of what makes a GT bad. It's less important to me that I get it right with the 9 worst GTs than that I get it right with the 9 options that most would vote for.

So... can we have the Women's U23 thread I made re-opened (if I edit the opening post)?
Since apparently the already existing U23 thread is Men's Only now, and talking about U23 races in the Main Women's racing thread is just wrong.

I agree with RHD there should be different threads for the men and women.

Actually, my main point is that there should be different threads for Elite and U23.
I think having both Men and Women races in the same U23 thread worked perfectly well, but apparently some people disagreed...

@Samu Cuenca, as I recall, you were the one who started the whole mess by posting about the women's l'Avenir in the Main Women's Racing thread.

No, this issue started much earlier with you insisting the WRR thread wasn't a general discussion thread for women's road cycling thread despite everyone else using it as such.

Avenir is the only non-championship U23 race on the calendar so there's no reason to have a separate U23 racing thread.

Maybe I keep insisting that's not what it's for because everyone keep using it as such...
At least people have - mostly - stopped posting about transfer related stuff in that thread.

But here's the question: If the talk about Women's l'Avenir had simply started in the U23 thread, would anyone suddenly have gotten the idea to change the title to inclue "Men", rather than allow it to continue as a mixed-gender thread?

Would anyone be interested in a thread for the Mallorcan races?
Or two threads; one for the women's, one for the men's?

Well, as long as people don't begin to open threads for the Thailand nationals or that Vietnamese Grand Tour LS invented a few years ago, I don't think there's any downside to opening a thread without asking?

And in this case, a joint thread would even work because they take place in separate weeks.

(personal personal opinion, not as a moderator)
I have no objection to any race having its own thread if someone wants to open one: no real harm if a thread is not very busy, and whatever is happening is easily found, with less scope for confusion with other events.

Made by who? Devils elbow's years of making race threads are over, right?
A reliable source informed me that DE isn't sure yet.

My 2¢: threads become worse if there are a lot of posts on completely separate races in the same thread. The men's Challenge Mallorca attracts plenty of interest and should definitely have its own thread, like every year, and the women's race can either go in a separate thread or the lesser known women's races thread.

Haha, well I'm always up for your amazing threads. I also understood it if you're fed up with it.

I suppose the main reason to have separate threads for the women's and men's Mallorca races would be to avoid having too many races profiles - and other details - in the same thread. Not because it's a problem to discuss women's and men's races in the same thread.

Look. Many people on this forum don't care about women's cycling. At least not enough to want to discuss it.

It's then obviously to be preferred that one can see if a given thread is about women's cycling so that one can avoid entering it instead of wasting time opening it and then realising that it did not contain new posts on a subject matter one would be interested in engaging with.

A harsh truth perhaps, but nonetheless a truth.

Also, the dialogue about the women's race would simply drown if the races are on the same or on consecutive days, so it's not even good for those who'd like to solely discuss the women's race.

I would even be happy if there were separate threads on men's/women's transfers and jerseys, nevermind race threads.
