Haut-Var was just a guys off form versus a guy in form.
Actually, the second stage was a classic 'Murito' stage. Except that it was over 200km long and wasn't flat for the most part, of course.

JTL does seem to have spent a lot of looking around this time, probably looking for Haas, Howard and where his teamates were. In those earlier races he just went and burned everybody off.

If Sky can sort his position on the bike out he could be dangerous.

I'd say he will end up being similar to Visconti.

Not that he's the same type with the same strengths and weaknesses, but that he's too strong to be "just" a continental rider but that he's not exceptional enough to become a relevant figure on world tour level.
