Wellens going from NC to the Tour, never seen him better. That was some prime Wout 22-level stuff. Insane performance. Mythical level from Wellens throughout, absolutely deserves a shoutout.
Indeed, amazing performance. It's a shame he doesn't want to ride the WC though. I get that 51 out of 52 weeks in the year your employer is UAE, and you are friends with Pogacar so you don't want to ride after him. But by saying such a thing I wouldn't include you in the team either if you would actually have a shot yourself with a bit of luck on a course that suits you better.

Wellens would have been great on the Kigali course, most of it is short climbs with some cobbles and of the guys who can get up those well, he‘d probably be among the best on Mont Kigali. Without him and Van Aert, Belgium really loses a lot of their potential power.

Indeed, WVA has an excuse though. His season has been long and hard. Wellens skips for emotional reasons like being friends with Pogacar...

He will enjoy winning the Renewi tour again in his Belgian shirt.

Doubt he wins, there no TT and parcours is too easy. They ruined the Geraardsbergen stage again (only 3 times Muur circuit and distance between Muurs is longer so easier to control) and Leuven parcours there are using as last stage is too easy too in a stage race were a team will be riding to defend.

Golden km seconds en just seconds at the finish will probably just decide the winner. Someone like Philipsen would literally be a favorite for GC win but Ive seen some rumors about him going to the Vuelta maybe.
