Sorry if this was posted before, but I also think this is a ever increasing metric ...

What is your average time spent inside the CN forums ? Did not want to make it a poll but was just wondering if it is only me that can get too involved, especially if I am a few pages behind to catch up on all the comments ;)

Either
1./ You spend wayyyy too much time here
or
2./ Do it so many times a day that you don't want to admit to yourself - YOU are an ADDICT !!!!

I can't access porn from work. When I am home my child is around and wife works a lot. It's a gross thought to be looking at porn with a kid around. This is a safe place. Safer than some, I guess.

I can't even imagine how much time I've wasted on this forum. The high price of entertainment I suppose.

I would admit to being addicted to this place, I am not signed up too any other forums, this is the first forum I have really been on.

Its the only place I get to talk about cycling as I live in an area where it is non-exsistent, there are a few recreational cyclists who dont follow the pros closely. I have followed the sport for over 20 years now so this place is a blessing for me.

It does get repetitive at times and I do lose interest at times, I dont have the post stamina of some people on here who just amaze me and I dont have the level of dislike for a certain person that some do which actually surprised me. Before coming here, I thought I was a rarity.

All in all, there is a group of very informed posters on here. Some of them can be a bit OTT at times with insults etc but with so many trolls, I understand the frustration. I like when people say they learned something relevant by coming on here, makes it kinda worth the effort. I would admit to getting a bit more insight into doping procedures since joining up.

I have tried to stay away a few times but lasted a max of 3 weeks without posting but was still lurking during that time. If it wasnt for the forum, I would check my mail, social site, get the latest cycling news and that would be it, maybe 20mins tops but now.....I am officially addicted methinks.

Interesting thread. I tend to come here 2-3 times per day for a few minutes at a time, after reading the home/news sections. I find it a great place to get the latest news/gossip as people tend to reference lots of cycling sites. This is the only forum I have ever belonged to so I don't know how it compares with others in terms of attitude/behaviour. I've read some of my own posts well after writing them and think sometimes that email/forums are the death of communication. Sometimes you hit 'reply' when you really should think things through, other times what you write just doesn't come across with the tone you intended. My only complaint is we tend to visit and revisit the same topics in true Groundhog Day fashion, but maybe that's just normal considering new people (or old friends with new identities) join all the time. All in all, I guess I am addicted insofar as I do want to learn what people across the globe think about bike A, race B, rider C, or doping technique D. And I've learned a lot here so I'll keep visiting. I really enjoy lurking in the gear, fitness, and wheelbuilding areas.

Oh yeah, love the beer thread too.

Not all, but many of the people who post on forums do so because they want to feel important. One of the ways the immature like to make themselves feel important is by belittling others, and if the target is someone who is popular, it's a double win in their mind. They can diss the target as well as the mass of people who admire the target, thus showing that they are oh, so much smarter than most people.

Some people just never evolve past playground mentality.

Yea, I have 4000+ posts, but believe it or not, I probably spend about an hour every day.(well, unless there is a stage or something.) I get in and get out quick like Bro said.

Yes there are some people just want to check in from time to time and make sure that everyone else knows how self important they feel. It seems like they never really have a point to add to any of the discussions other than the fact that they are smart and all grown up and everyone else is not.

+1. I spend too much time on the CN forum, but enjoy what I learn and occasionally have a good laugh (I can say that having just read BroDeal's post in the LA thread about trolls). I used to spend more time in the Clinic, but I find that can get repetitive and boring. I spend most of my time in the Cafe and Professional Road Racing sections. The beer, babes on bikes, and where have you ridden threads are my favourites, but I am particularly looking forward to the upcoming seasons (especially the spring classics).

Read everything in the morning which would take 10-30mins depending on troll activity.

Will only return throughout the day if there's interesting discussion going on, which isn't a lot when everyone else is sleeping.

I'm the same as you.
