Was going to say Thor but 1km @ 11% might be a bit too much. Who knows though

That depends on how big the group is when they go up the climb. If he is well placed going into the climb then he can fall through the field and come out of it close enough to catch up on the way down to the finish. It would almost be like a shorter steeper Poggio di San Remo with the following chase against the attackers in the climb.

But chanses are the peloton is already in molecules at this point of the race.

Borefest written all over it. breakaway, chase, sprint.

ummm no.
with 7 km to go they hit a km @ 12ish %
Good luck with the sprint fest, riders will come in all over the place.
Possibly a little group of favorites coming in together vying for the win.
Maybe Cunego with his kick.

I liked Ballan.. But surely they put their eggs in the evans basket @ 10 seconds behind.

nah sorry no one i recognised. the peloton were not chasing. But this was at the first 5ks. Todays a long hard day in the Apennines so let a break go for the day to suffer and haul them back in the final 20k.

Edit: The five escapees are: Amador (Movistar), Malacarne (Quick Step), Hayman (Sky), Wegmann (Leopard) and Mouris (Vacansoleil).

I'm going for Freire on this stage.

Allthough there is a big chance he will lose too much time on that ramp and after that ramp it's downhill as well so the people that get away have a real good chance to win it.

Still going for Freire. Whatever :D

There is no way this will be a sprint in any type of big field. If there is a sprint then the grop will not contain many of the big sprinters. I think the field will be fairly well fragmented but after looking at the riding of todays stage I have a feeling that Hushovd might have a shot at being there in the end for this. The question is who else will be there.

What he said. Hushovd is in some great form.
