Good job Phil. Di Luca going to be a force to be reckoned with in the Ardennes, looking better day by day.

Yeah right.
Worked a treat against Contador and Menchov in the 2008/2009 Giros.

The Italians don't gang up on foreigners, however, they race within a culture of campanilismo, which means they race so hard against each other on home turf to beat their national rivals that often foreigners aren't prepared for the ferocity that comes with this passion. And they are good.

In other words, an Italian racer often races more passionately in Italy then abroad. Few nations have riders that really out-do themselves on home soil the way the Italians do. This can be daunting for the non-Italians in the race.

Wow, that certainly looks like an improvement. Very tough final climb, by the looks of it. 2 km at 9% average. And they have to do it 4 times, if I understand the profile correctly.
Certainly is a bit of a kick.
Reading that it's 2kms at 9.7%(193v metres)

Exactly, I certainly agree with this.

Bad day for us dutchies :)

First Gesink too far back AGAIN when the climb started. He was at the front for a while, but then after the downhill he was once again waaay too far back when the climbing and attacks started. It's his own fault though, maybe he just couldn't stay at the front.

Then Poels looks like winning the stage, but Gilbert robs it from him.... right after he was about to rob the win from Amador though :)

Great stage once again.

Exactly, I certainly agree with this.

It's also why the scudetto, Italy's national football championships, is often more prestigious and hard-played than the World Cup.

When Roma won the national title in 2001, for example, the urban parties lasted for months. While Francesco Totti said that win was more special than winning the World Championships in 06.

Of course, Mr. MV
Aren't you tired of that....anti-games ? I mean really. lol

Of course Italians or other riders from same nations never cooperate. No chance.
End if this happens, but no chance of course, never, then it of course never works out, because Contador and Menchov won Giro. lol

Of course rubroma +1000 now, and, just because its cobblestoned that makes -10000 by MV.

I would say rubroma and me are both right with their conclusions, and whoever doubts that....can't be serious.

Mr.MV, did I steal you something ? Your sunshine or whatever ?
How old are you, Lulu ? Really ?
I'am 35 and can only laugh about your sandpit-mentality. Really.

In my racing experiences in Italy, I was always l'americano on the Italian team. Their conversations after the races were usually highly animated arguments among themselves, with accusations and rebuttals, about why this rider didn't do this or that and what should have been done. Even when we won! Only after did they let me in on anything, but they taught me all I know about bike racing.

Yes Davide Cassani, when compared to the Eurosport crew, is in another league when it comes to announcing live a bike race.

PS. And now Paolo Salvoldeli.

You know what's pathetic? a 35yo who only looks at the comments of Mellow Velo and turns it into some sort of personal war.

Please stop it, grow up

Crazy...7h20min. Organzier think we are tools...up and down. Preaty cold weather and snow on top.Watching people skiing on climb sassotetto

When did the riders start complaining like this? They might as well stop racing if they don't like their job anymore.

Like the reaction of the Z man.

With Voigt recently talking about wanting shorter races etc I can imagine that this is something that they are discussing a lot between the riders on the team and that leads them to have a negative mindset where they are looking for faults everywhere. If they were in good shape and were winning some of these races then I imagine they wouldn't be complaining as much.

My bad.
I shouldn't have responded, since I only saw the original post in a quote, as with his latest offering.;)
Strange thing is, he knows he's on my ignore list, so he's mostly wasting his typing skin.

Now, it is strangely silent, considering tomorrow's stage looks remarkably like the Giro dell'Emilia.:)

Never in the history of cycling lol.. Bears never defecate in the woods either.

You are right though and MV a tad naive methinks, but whether cooperation between the same national riders happen in the remaining stages at Tirreno who knows.

Cancellara's attempts to become the next Whinestrong are a shame.

"Oh it was too hard and hilly, I dont like it like that, Gilbert wins when it is hard even though everyone knows I am much better than him"

Next he will be campaigning for the Arenberg Forest to be re-surfaced.

Thank you.
I'll just let these kids roll...and let things go pop.
Enough other people here where conversations are possible and still real.

You never know what happens, but everything is possible.
cuddles speaks perfect Italian. Won't be a disadvantage. :)

You may be right. Certainly there have been cases of Italians ganging up on foreign riders in the past. The one instance that we are all familiar with, being Stephen Roche's 1987 Giro experience.

However, I think that has mostly changed in recent years, with money buying loyalty.

So, if I am naive, I count myself in pretty good company: Gilberto Simoni for one.;)

Whoever hangs out with Voigt too much end up being a winger. He's the rep for the riders so he has to complain about everything.

Surprising that Di Luca, conspicuous as he has been, remains beneath Lofkvist, Pinotti and Machado in the GC. Without looking at Katusha's TTT time, they must have had a shocker.
