I think Chris Horner could actually win this. He's not that bad on the punchy finishes, can do a decent tt and climbs well. Cadelis going to have very little race days in the legs so not expecting something special.

you know pretty well that cadel doesn't need race days in the legs.now you're just modest:eek:
lol and what about papy horner?he didn't race since 1935

with contador gone i am going with either nibali or scarponi simply because they will also be in very good shape with M-SR only a week or so away. and since this year the race has higher mountains and evans usually needs a bit better shape to perform on mountains then he needs to perform on hills he will fall a bit short on the shape to beat those guys.

then again i am also backing up nibbles for the tour so he can beat evans anyway :p

yeah but as parrulo said he generally doesn't climb as well in the early season because his schedule is usually short hilly races up till april so he will still do well in Chieti and Ofrida but not on the MTF.

I don't mind the TTT, it is pretty short, the results between main contenders within 30sec and only Garzelli will lose more. Of course last year's Gesink got huge benefits from the TTT but nevertheless he didn't win...

I see Horner has already been thrashed out here.

I think a Stage 4 win is possible with distance of 252Ks it has the look of a single day classic. Horner was 7th and 10th at LBL and Amstel Gold in 2010. His win atop the Sierra Road at the last years Cali and past performances at Pais Vasco and Catalunya all point being strong on 10% and above.

But it is true that he has race much since the Cali, he may be hungry enough to do well. The Schlecks are going to PN.

Qatar is whetting my appetite of seeing fast racing and dudes shot out the back. T-A will be the exact opposite ( slow racing compared to sprints on really hard terrain )

Can't imagine a season of sprinters' stage races although they do get the blood flowing. TA offers the full range with stage 4 looking to be a really good day of racing. A lot of different types can win.

The killer is not on the provisional startlist.

Acqua & Sapone
11 GARZELLI, Stefano
12 BETANCURT GOMEZ, Carlos Alberto
13 CODOL, Massimo
14 DONATI, Alessandro
15 GINANNI, Francesco
16 MIHOLJEVIC, Vladimir
17 NAPOLITANO, Danilo
18 TABORRE, Fabio

Probably has something to do with his contract that is not 100% certain yet if A&S doesnt get to ride the giro. Would really suck if he would not ride the TA.

Also no Dekker, according to that list. He said on twitter he was hoping for a selection...
Makes sense, in his first race involving climbing he dropped out injured... don't rush it.

No biggie, he will probably race catalunya (if that race goes through that is) and pais vasco to prepare for the ardennes
