Gotta say I'm please to see that hard men are stepping up in the early spring stage races. I even saw a glimpse of Hotsteppers (god bless them) for a while at the business end. May it continue....

Here's a profile of today's final climb. It's irregular, with some steep ramps and on fairly narrow roads - but into a strong headwind.

I think it's likely he (MVDP) tries to get in the break. Didn't he say so in an interview a few days ago that he would try on some days?

Ganna is too heavy to survive tomorrow. UAE has too many firepower with Majka, Del Toro, Yates and Ayuso. There is no chance Ganna survives, specially with Ayuso less than 25 seconds behind.
not for the win, yeah, but a good place in GC is within reach, I think. Many good climbers are a ~minute or more behind already, and could very well lose more time today

edit: and it's not like de Plus has much of a chance to win either, of course.

Yup but don't forget they will all out the whole climb. I will be very surprised if he doesn't lose more than 2 minutes.

Maybe Alpecin is planning to do a similar move as Visma does during TDF. Get some riders in the attack, if they get caught help MVDP, if MVDP is too far behind on the top of the Monterolo go for victory, otherwise wait and bring him back.
