He might be riding this like a 3 week stage race, letting the kids waste energy with their weak attacks like he did to Ayuso last year, taking a few days to find his reading glasses and arthritis pills before getting going.Still don't understand why Roglic didn't try at least once. Unless we assume it would've been fruitless anyway so he just cruises along, which is fair.
If they just committed to the stage Jorgenson looked excellent but he blew himself up way out from the finish.. He needed the bonus more than Wout needed a 5th place, all that work and Visma gets nothing.. Only person worse is Toro...oh well..Yeah it's ridiculous. Visma are still living in 2020. I think everyone could see he wasn't going to win this stage. He could barely follow Jorgenson on the climb.
I think it would also be good for Van Aert if they quit putting all their eggs in the Wout basket. Now he's just becoming a perennial loser, if he's always waiting for the sprint and never delivering.
Fair too, chances would've been slim anyway. Just save yourself for an opportunity during stage 5 or 6.He might be riding this like a 3 week stage race, letting the kids waste energy with their weak attacks like he did to Ayuso last year, taking a few days to find his reading glasses and arthritis pills before getting going.
He did look pretty spent and the last 2 or 3 jumps by Pellizzari had some snap..the guy looks great.. Bora better be thinking about going all in for him for next few months. I have not been following Lipowitz's form but Pellizzari is flying..Past 200 kilometres. Del Toro was rather dead in the end. It doesn't make UAE smarter though.
I go with that, Jorgenson looks decent despite crashing, really rolling smooth up front, Head to head when Wout was trying to stay with MvdP he just fell off his pace..I hope Jorgenson keeps improving. The guys mock UAE's tactics, but Visma riding for Wout is a million times more stupid than anything UAE has ever done.
Easy now, throwing away a Giro win easily trumps anything anyone could ever do for Wout...The guys mock UAE's tactics, but Visma riding for Wout is a million times more stupid than anything UAE has ever done.
ironically the greatest stupidity was letting WvA in the break and get over Finestre unchallengedEasy now, throwing away a Giro win easily trumps anything anyone could ever do for Wout...
If Wout looks around and sees MvdP and Ganna, Christen is the last guy I am prioritizing..If they'd won, it wouldn't have been stupid. I'm not advocating the "winner is always right" nonsense but if they had been able to keep things closed and Wout wouldn't have had to fire his bullets on Christen and Ganna and won the sprint, then he would have been fastest and the tactics correct.
Ah, too many ifs, you're probably right.
Del Toro talked to him before. Seemed like he had to attack under the 1km banner and Del Toro would do a fake attack and drop the pace (he also block half the group). Could’ve worked if no one reacted immediately.Christen was on the radio so I think his lack of work and his late attack were planned by his director.
That kind of stuff might work in a .1 race somwhere....Del Toro talked to him before. Seemed like he had to attack under the 1km banner and Del Toro would do a fake attack and drop the pace (he also block half the group). Could’ve worked if no one reacted immediately.
I think he even surprised himself with that sprint there. Quite impressive.Pellizzari almost won, insane finish
He's not 20 years old like everyone else around him and he has too much experience to waste energy for nothing.Still don't understand why Roglic didn't try at least once. Unless we assume it would've been fruitless anyway so he just cruises along, which is fair.
yep apparently DelToro blew himself up wasting too much energy for that second, hopefully recovers by tomorrow.Funny yesterday Del Toro squirted off for a 1 second bonus, Today Pellizzari gases it in the sprint and now he leads Del Toro by 2 seconds on GC..Roglic is 3rd at 21 seconds off the lead. Ben Healy is a crafty little weasel..guy gets it done..
I really don't mind this idea, seems stupid in hindsight but they rolled the dice, neither of those two is winning the sprintDel Toro talked to him before. Seemed like he had to attack under the 1km banner and Del Toro would do a fake attack and drop the pace (he also block half the group). Could’ve worked if no one reacted immediately.
If you want to see how 'raw' Bardiani talent is, look at Pinarello's development after four months in a fairly average WT team – suddenly top 10 in medium mountain stages against actual WT opposition.Van Aert's sprinting is diabolical. Pellizzari's allround development has been insane, hard to believe that he was a really onedimensional rider 18 months ago at Bardiani.
Still don't understand why Roglic didn't try at least once. Unless we assume it would've been fruitless anyway so he just cruises along, which is fair.
