1st k is ~8% average, but every climber entering this in position 100 will of course be doomed anyway.

They also found a nice little gate to go through with 300m to go, but by then not many will be left, I guess

Has anyone complained about it, or are they gonna wait till they're in the hospital?

That's not a hairpin, but an oblique line. There won't be many entering the gate together by that time, as a selection will have been made.

In any case, I rode through that gate, opposite direction, at the start of the Granfondo della Vernaccia di San Gimignano, 2013. Can't wait to watch this today.

It will be chaotic. The route isn't selective enough until the sterratto sector.
