He doesn't climb well enough anymore to mix it up with the best climbers on a murito, and he also isn't fast/reliable enough in sprints anymore that he's just easily going to clean up from a 50-rider group. He can still win, but he definitely isn't the main favourite here.

I'm not so sure about that. It's only 1.5km, and if you saw him drag Jorgenson group back up in the gravel stage, I still think he has it him to survive or be very close on the top. In a flat sprint with 50, I would think he wins, but maybe you're right and he lost it. He wasn't able to train on it yet due to his ankle injury.

You could say that, but I usually find it pretty entertaining. He always has his idiosyncratic view and he's super enthused for everything and a strategic optimist, meaning he will always ask the quesetion: "how is x a reason for optimism", regardless of what you enter. Also Jens may say outlandish stuff, but he won't believe his outlandish stuff to be the only viable perspective, which would make it annoying indeed.

he indeed is entertaining when they have a real expert at his side and can just tell some anecdotes. Having to analyse the race is unfortunately a bit of a different story. Especially as Bengsch tends to get lost talking about some German-focused nonsense as well.

To be fair I haven't seen too much of Voigt, except when he's been doing the Savoldelli role on the motorbike or the very occasional visit he's had to the commentary booth, but in English he always has his 'funny persona'. Which can be very entertaining, I remember he did a really funny interview in the 2009 TdF explaining how Astana could be beaten. But ideally I want commentators to either be chill or serious sometimes as well.
