Welsford will be kicking himself for waiting too long because he had the speed to win that stage.

a fairly decent edition , stage 4 was better than i had hoped

but also a closed race and even with the backloaded circuits , it would have been better with stage 6 before stage 5

the rain made stage 2 more selective , i think itd have been a bunch sprint in dry weather

Remco raced in Mallorca and Valencia to get some confidence. He was winning Mickey mouse races, the first real test he had this season, he was humiliated and he expected to win UAE Tour. In Catalunya, he will be better but he will also have better competition and in better shape compared to early February (e.g. Almeida). I constantly see posts about Remco still didn't go to altitude and will improve significantly and I just ask "Is everyone bar Remco peaking in February?" Of course not, and a lot of gc riders didn't also go to altitude (e.g. Del Toro, Almeida).
He won those Mickey Mouse (tm Disney) races and should have had a realistic view of the UAE Tour. I don't recall reading anywhere he definitively expected to win it.
He does need to begin GC work on long climbs if he expects to gain a podium anywhere. Roglic and Pellizari, in particular; had a great Tirenno. As most paying attention understood: Remco was not the first GC position at RBH. He'll have to earn it.

Pretty much. I think the action on stage 5 and 6 was underwhelming though.

Anyway it was much better than last year.

Pretty good race overall, better than Paris Nice this year.

Del Toro confirming that he has stepped up a level this season, it wasn't a super dominant win but he looked always in control and yesterday's stage win was a nice bonus.

Jorgenson taking second today, keeps his tradition of having good performances at this time of the year.

Strong podium for Pellizzari who was the strongest Red Bull rider in this Tirreno Adriatico as Roglič and Hindley were both disappointing.

Good 4th place for Tobias Johannessen despite Uno-X's questionable tacticts and another strong performance from Alessandro Pinarello who rounds up the top10.

Finally, a word about Van der Poel, who animated the race and won two stages confirming that he is ready for the monuments.

Nice action on the climb but this stage just reinforced my feeling every year that it would be an absolute banger of a stage if they lopped off 50km or so of the stage and ended it 2nd time across the finish line giving enough time for a well organised chase to be viable but strong attackers to use the climb to create a winning move.

Congratulations to Jonathan Milan for winning the sprint and to Isaac del Toro Romero for taking the overall.

Visma managed to push RBH back one place in terms of the podium and gain that second but still RBH managed to secure the best team award. Was a nice stage race and occasionally it makes sense to have such route but ultimately a proper stage race does need one more decisive hill in it.

And that is a mistake.

I checked the last 10 editions and only 2019 editions is somewhat similar to this years edition The rest had a proper climb in it positioned in a way to make a difference. So maybe i am missing something so best if you explain yourself better.

My point is that the Tirreno course has been designed improperly since around 2012. Before that it never had a mountain finish and it shouldn't have.

And it is a bit rich to hear you ask me to explain myself better when you always make a point of being as vague and unclear as possible.

I don't mind Tirreno having a MTF is long as it's not too big and decisive. The issue can be that routes with a MTF have worse stages outside of that, like last season.
