Hmm... or maybe he just lost it on long climbs. He hasn;'t done well on longer climbs since the Vuelta he finished 4th.

Last year he was only good in the hilly races and hilly classics as well.
His training this winter has been geared toward the classics, I think he'll only train for endurance on climbs after April. And he's never good on his first long climb of the season.

A bit surprising that Slagter was so far behind, has he been sick too or is his form dropping?

Very disappointed in Nordhaug this week too, naturally he isn't in top form after his knee injury, but he should at least be able to keep up with a 40 man group which included 7 Sky riders...At this point last year he was one of the best climbers at Sky and now he can't even keep up with Knees and Kennaugh
Didn't he say that the knee injury affected his recovery from day to day?

How? A 1-week race perfectly suited for him, and he finishes 4th.

He sucks at uphill TT's tbh. He likes long and gradual efforts, but on Col d'Eze he can't find his rythm. He's kinda like Gesink, who has the same problems in TT's. But Evans was bad last year, and this year it won't be different. What else will BMC do at the Tour if Van Garderen isn't their leader?

Yea, he did. But he's certainly starting to run out of time if he wants to be on top form for the Ardennes.

Alberto Contador: The race is open

[10.03 18:37] Team Saxo-Tinkoff's Alberto Contador finished third on today's exciting stage in Tirreno-Adriatico taking important seconds on his rivals in the GC. In addition, the Spanish climber was on the podium as he secured the red jersey symbolizing the leader of the point classification.

“To get this jersey was not my goal as I'm riding for the overall classification but of course, it's nice to get some time on the podium. Yesterday wasn't my best day and if I had done the stage differently, I would have better chances in the overall now. But tomorrow's another day and there's still a time trial waiting for us. The stage is not decided at all. The small time differences make it possible to still climb the GC.

On today's stage Team Saxo-Tinkoff's Alberto Contador says:

“Joaquin launched a ferocious attack and I preferred to stay with Froome as I was uncertain how strong he was or whether or not I would be able to catch Purito (Rodriguez). However, I'm happy with the result,” said Alberto and concluded:
“I think it's amazing to ride in Italy. I'm constantly hearing the crowd shouting my name to cheer me on and I just want to say Grazie a tutti per questo. It's hard not to come to the Giro this year but we might meet again next season.”

Team Saxo-Tinkoff's Alberto Contador is now second overall - 20 seconds behind Christopher Froome (Sky).

Tomorrow more... :)

So he admits he was riding stupid yesterday.

And yea I had the feeling Contador maybe could go with purito but it was too dangerous with Froome. Yesterday learnt him that.

I think he should be at least within 10 sec of Froome to hope in winning GC.

Nah actually he should have an advantage, like 5s or more.

No I said the team doesn't believe in the win anymore:D

Ah, than I'm sorry. But obviously that wasn't true too ;) Otherwise Kreuz wouldn't brun himself for Contador.

Looks like I was wrong about Rodriguez derailing the train though, Uran and Henao had already peeled off at the start of the final climb before Rodriguez attacked. Was it too steep for drafting to be of any help?

Don't listen her:D

Roman has done very good stages. The TTT, yesterday and today. Perhaps he could have get a Podium at Paris Nice, but a top 10 in this Tirreno is notable.

Hopefully Bjarne can lift his career because he was stagnated in Astana.

He said he wouldn't do Paris - Nice because the form wasn't such good and he didn't want to fight somewhere around 15th place in GC. So he'd better help Alberto in Tirreno.

Wow she's back and I really missed her sharp comments :D
Anyway, watching the stage, Froome was the one with the controversial trajectory in the sprint. I would sprint like that as well on those sort of grades.

I think Uran was supposed to take over after Henao, but he didn't have the legs.
