I doubted him before last year's Vuelta and he took that personally. I am not surprised he was able to follow today, but I wasn't sure he was going to be the only one besides Van der Poel. He had a great chance to win in Sanremo, time will tell if he'll get another one in the future.

Great rice and I thought he got it at the end. Should be a big year for him after his success last year.

He messed this sprint up. He started his acceleration but the slowed again, should have just gone for it. And after that he was obviously on the wrong side

wanted the side with shelter , but it seemed to me that it was because his prep overrode what should have been a decision in the moment to secure a clean lane

i was so very gutted that he missed out . ugh

Angliru was also just his worst day in the mountains, because he's done much better on 30+ minute climbs.
