Obviously GT, week long races, and Monuments are different. But if you had to make a top 10 in terms of prestige. Do you think it would be a fair assessment ?

  1. TdF
  2. Giro
  3. WC
  4. Vuelta
  5. Paris - Roubaix
  6. Flanders
  7. Milan - San Remo
  8. Liege-Bastogne-Liege
  9. Paris-Nice
  10. Giro di Lombardia

Olympic RR gold is only of interest if your fellow countryman wins it.

This is great thread topic, but unfortunately I do suspect a bot as the OP. If only because it is a first post.

I think Roubaix is the most prestigious one day race there is, this coming from a Flemish man. (With the exception of the Olympics because that transcends any sport.)
Honestly, 5-6-7 could interchange between them and I would be completely fine with it. It took all my willpower not putting Paris-Tours on here over MSR since it is as enjoyable as going to a Taylor Swift concert with your girlfriend.

Leaving cardinality aside, what is the order of the prestige of victories currently? If we can agree on that, it should make a ranking easier.

A first attempt:

Tour de France
Giro d'Italia
Vuelta a España
Olympic Games Road Race
World Championships Road Race
Paris - Roubaix
Ronde van Vlaanderen
Liège - Bastogne - Liège
Giro di Lombardia
Milano - Sanremo
Dauphiné Libéré
Tour de Suisse
Paris - Nice
Itzulia
Tirreno - Adriatico
Volta a Cataluña
Amstel Gold Race
Gent - Wevelgem
Tour de Romandie
Olympic Games Time Trial
Flèche Wallone
World Championships Time Trial
Tour de France Green Jersey
E3 Harelbeke
Strade Bianche
San Sebastian
Tour de France Polka Dot Jersey
European Championships Road Race
Omloop
GP de Québec
GP de Montréal
UAE Tour
Tour de Pologne
Benelux Tour
Tour Down Under
Giro dell'Emilia
Milano - Torino
Dwars door Vlaanderen
Bretagne Classic
Kuurne - Brussel - Kuurne
De Panne
Hamburg Cyclassics
Frankfurt
Tre Valli Varesine

I'll add more races and the secondary classifications of the Giro and Vuelta later.
More than a top-10.

I think prestige may be different depending whether you are a cycling fan or not. Also personally difficulty matters (not in terms of parcour but level of opposition)

So for example I’d guess an Olympic Road Race gold medal brings more attention than any other win other than a TDF win, but for me it does not mean it is the second most important race. Prestige wise i think it is in the top 10 behind the monuments.

I have mixed views re the ORR given its very restricted field even more so than the worlds it is obviously easier to win than many races which would otherwise fall outside top 10 of something like this ie say Amstel and Tour de Suisse (as examples).

Olympics is not a cycling race it's merely a spectacle. 4 riders max and only like 100 participants is not a proper race.
The way forward forward perhaps though.
