Really? I'm still wondering how he is.

Well, beter then Aru you're right, i'm thinking now. But next year i don't think so anymore;)

But i think you mean a Tour with quite heavy TT kilometers? Not a super hard, mountains filled Vuelta or Giro right?
Yep, I mean a Tour with about 60km of a TT,thats a benchmark imo as its a (crash:p)race were all best guys meet.

About Uran, I think he is on par with Valverde... I can easily say he is slightly better than murito cuz his best place is also 2nd :p

Haha, true. But Purito rode podium in Le Tour;)

And in a mountain filled Giro/Vuelta, Purito still is slightly better:p

There's a reason Uran has two 2nd place finishes in the Giro, and that is a low level of competition. I, actually, wouldn't rate him among the top 10 climbers in the world
I suppose you're right. He's not one of the top 10 climbers in the world right now but out of those who climb better than him, which of them can place higher at the end of a GT? His ITT ATM places him higher than most climbers.

After La Vuelta I think Aru is fast approaching Uran's level and will probably surpass him next year. I'm still not convinced Purito can beat a healthy Uran unless it's at La Vuelta with not a lot of TT. I think right now a healty Uran can only be beaten by the top 4 at Le Tour.

Valverde is beating Aru right now you know. So what is the excuse?

Yes, Aru will get better, and yes, Valverde will decline at some point. But as of right now Valverde is better.

Progression. I think Valverde is already in decline, to be honest. That last one is my own opinion. His performances this year really did not match up to 2013, where bad luck cost him a shot at a TDF podium. At the Tour this year, he had a clear shot at runner up and he got beat by riders I don't rate as high Aru. I see Aru overtaking him next year, so I rate him higher.

The funny thing would be if Schleck refound his form. If a miracle happens (that doesn't involve clinic speculation) and Andy posts very good results next year, he would shoot up the ratings based on age and palmares, and would still be young all things considered, but that seems about as likely as a Cunego-Cobo-Hesjedal top 3 battle at the Tour at this point.

IMHO

1.Froome (+ 40km flat tt)
2.Contador (or 1st if less tt)
3.Quintana
4.Nibali
5.Valverde / Uran

Looking good, except Froome/Contador tied no matter TT size (Froome is a climber, not a time trialist).
And I would swap places Nibali before Quintana, more complete rider, better GT results (his TDF 2014 numbers were better than Froome 2013).Actually i'm not even sure that Nibali is weaker than Froome/Contador.Quintana is good, but he's not yet better than Nibali.

thats why I wrote imho :)
I think that AC is just a bit better climber, thats why I put there the condition of tt.
Nibali is very versatile rider, but I dont think that at Tour (except cobbles) there are enough opportunities to show that.Thats why I put Quintana to 3rd,cuz I think if the 2 big guys go,Quintana can go with them,Im not so sure with Nibali, maybe yes, maybe not.

Contador/Quintana
Froome
Nibali
Majka
Aru
Valverde,Jrod as fillers.

Contador,Nairito are bound to podium any GT.

Froome (i know his fans will disagree with me) is yet to prove himself as an all-GT contender.
The rest need conducive parcours.

you guys know abt valv, jrod. they currently dont hav what it takes to win a GT.

thats the highest placing of nairo I have ever seen, and despite Im his fan,I dont think its right. He is not on the same level as AC yet,cuz of not so superior climbing and worse tt.Also Froome has 2 vuelta podiums,so I think he proved himself enough :)

Why Majka higher then Aru? I get thinking that before the Vuelta. But Aru pretty much matched Majka's Tour feat in the Vuelta while taking a high GC at the same time.

Contador.
Froome, if he manages to stay upright.
I'd like to say Nibali next, but I think it is highly dependent on the GT.
Not so convinced about Quintana for all the love on here for him. Think he's still got a lot to prove.
Of the others, I expect to see Aru - he's got 'surprise' potential written all over him. Vvde / Rodiguez I'm never convinced want to win (versus podium) enough, though I grant Rodriguez's motivation is the greater, if not age on his side. Setting much store by Majka seems a bit premature to me.

Nibs over Froome cuz He was won all the 3 GTs. Froome still needs to prove himself in Il Giro. 2 second places in La Vuelta shows that he can handle it if having the form and the luck.

BTW... Are we putting Aru and Rafal above Rigo?

No way. Uran is clearly better than both at this point. But if we're talking potential, Aru has the biggest upside.

Froome will never prove himself at Giro imo so it shouldnt be in our judgements.

agree about Uran, he is not a terrific climber but his tt is way superior to Aru and Majka. He would give them 3+ mins in 40 km imo.Maybe he is a better gc TT than Froome nowadays
