It's probably close, but yes.

It's interesting to see how the media does its job with Froome. As always, all you need to do is watch races to realize where he really stands.Hugo Koblet said:If the matter of the subject is "list the top 5 best GC riders", then:

4. Nibali
5. Aru

Pricey_sky said:Unfortunately we were robbed of the Contador v Froome comparison, in my opinion it's Froome who has shown the best form In the last 18 months so isn't it Contador who must prove he can beat Froome not the other way around? That's no disrespect on Contador and his past achievements either.
Carols said:Did you watch the Dauphine? Froome trying to dislodge AC with repeated accelerations but AC was still there. AC was 2011 AC this year. Then Froome had a bit of a crash; no big deal really but enough to put him off his game a touch. But AC just rode away from him 2 days later and the next day left him crumpled like a cheap suit being towed in 5 mins later. Yeah we missed the show down in the Tour but I don't think Froome was going to be the one riding away.....
Let's see the Froome, Quintana match up that will show a lot. But I think Froome is already burned out on the Sky program like Wiggins was. You can only be a riding skeleton for so long doing hard training without the body rebelling. Soon Brailsford will dump him for a new Frenchman to reach his new goal of winning the Tour with a Frenchman.
Of course I could be entirely Wrong LOL![]()
Pricey_sky said:Of course, I enjoyed the one stage showdown in the Dauphine but even Contador said he had no energy left to get around Froome on stage 2 but it was great effort from both, I am sure we would have seen some great battles in the Tour as both love to attack each other on the climbs.
I wouldn't downplay Froome's crash either, he was still showing the affects of it when he crashed and ripped his shorts on stage 4 of the Tour, that's nearly a month on.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if your point about Froome burning out was true, that's something Sky really need to work on as the training program is hurting a lot of the team.

It is not our fault that you have not watched races in the last 3 years!Red Rick said:I wonder why everyone thinks Quintana is the best climber. His Giro victory is overrated, he won 2 stages with 7 seconds on Hesjedal and on Aru
Dekker_Tifosi said:He also turned over a 3'30 deficit into a 3m+ advantage in only 3 mountain stages
On a lot of guys in the top 10 he gained over 8 minutes in the final week alone...
Red Rick said:Of which 4 minutes on a super controversial stage. Put Nibali, Contador or Froome in his situation and you get the same massacre. I forgot to mention that he had to wheelsuck Pozzovivo for a climb in the 2nd week
You see, you didn't even watched the stage!Red Rick said:Of which 4 minutes on a super controversial stage. Put Nibali, Contador or Froome in his situation and you get the same massacre. I forgot to mention that he had to wheelsuck Pozzovivo for a climb in the 2nd week

Dekker_Tifosi said:I think the MTT speaks for itself really. Yeah Aru stayed close, but he is a major pure climbing talent like Quintana himself. The rest wasn't even close. Guys that finished in the top finished at 4/5 minutes
But yeah, you'll see for yourself in the Vuelta.. We'll save the quotes..and for nothing, because in August you'll be gone, like all other july watchers
Afrank said:Much of the time gained on the "super controversial stage" came from him leading the full way up the climb. He set a pace much faster then the peloton (who hadn't been working as hard on or after the descent) that he kept adding more time to his lead and ended up riding his companions off his wheel.
The way he rode the climb IMO demonstrates in itself he would likely have won even without the controversy as well as what a great climber he is.
