yeah but i understood that grand colombiere will be 60 km before the finish

i think it is with 40k to go, and another one or two climbs till the finish. the idea is that maybe ASO reads this forum :)

Bell Filles actually has an average of 8.7% and is 5.6km. That's not an easy finish at all.

Blow up where? I'm sure Libertine Seguros won't go THAT FAR in boycotting this event.

You never know he might have a bad day, particularly if its very hot. Condtador could put him under pressure somewhere for sure.

first 3 km will be done at more than 30 km/h in a very big group.contador goes at the 2 km to go banner and puts ten seconds to froome and 15 to menchov.
it won't be important.

wow ... Schleck should go all out for the Giro and get a GT under his belt absolutely no point in him turning up next year.

I hope Froome rides just In case Wiggo blows and also Pate will ride for Sky I'd imagine..

Anyway Libertine should be put on suicide watch if this course is correct..

Well this year's TdF squad was basically Wiggo, Urán and Zandio for the mountains. Then Knees, Swift, Thomas, Flecha, Gerrans, EBH for breakaways and sprint trains.

There's no TTT so there's no reason to drop Zandio for a roleur type.

Gerrans leaves for GE, I haven't seen anything confirmed on Knees' contract. They have Porte, Sioutsou, Pate now. Swift could well be replaced by one of these (or Froome), or Cav if he signs.

Maybe they give Urán a shot at GC leadership in the Giro and have him rest during July... they've built themselves a very nice squad with lots of options.

One of the things I don't like is a long TT after the pivotal road stages are done. I'd much rather see the race decided in a mountain stage.

I'm bored so time to update the climbs

Vosges

Planche des Belles Filles

Jura

Grand Colombier, Biche and 1 more (Richemont?)

Swiss Jura

Croix and 3 more

Alps

Madeleine, Croix-de-Fer, Mollard (possible), Toussuire, Glandon (possible) and 1 more

or

Madeleine, Croix-de-Fer, Toussuire, Grand Cucheron, Granier, Cucheron

Pyrenees

That's more tricky

Stage to Foix 2 big climbs only (Paileheres? Port? Peguere? Montsegur?)

Aubisque, Tourmalet, Aspin, Peyresourde, Portillon, Mente, Ares, Bales, Peyragudes

or

Aubisque, Tourmalet, Aspin (twice), Peyresourde, Hourqutte d'Ancizan, Azet, Peyragudes which means that a pointless stage to Foix will have an extra climb and a more decisive stage 1 climb less

Finishing second behind Contador doesn't necessarily mean he blew up. Let's not forget that Contador finished third in this year's long time trial after having been in the attack all day the day before and his bad preparation(Giro, crashes)

If they need too much thats possible to attack a lot earlier, remembering Mur-de-Bretagne. :) He will go.

if this route is true, it really sucks. Thera has to be at least 2 more mountain stages for this to be good route. One to pierre st. martin that is rumoured + another hard one. looking forward to giro

If this is the route, I guess I won't be late to work in July. Typically the race finishes around 9:30 in the morning, which on mountain or decent hilly stages means I am late to work. On epic days, I call in sick. I don't see those late days. Guess I also won't be sick, cough cough.

Hope the details prove me wrong.

Guys please give the Froome hype a rest, he is not better than Contador in the TT and and on the climbs, uh, forget it. :)

I personally think the route is pretty good. If it had one queen mountain stage then it would be reallly good. But it still is pretty good as is.

I think we will see some very attacking racing on the hilly and all the mountain stages from the guys who can't TT. (solving the problem of this year where everybody waited until the last 3 days).

Contador, Evans, Menchov, and Friggins (Kloden/Leipheimer) will be very very happy.

Pretty good? Maybe if it was 1972.

Stage 7 - 1 climb only and it's less than 6 km

Stage 8 - Croix with 10-12 to go if they indeed finish next to the airport

Stage 10 - impossible to recover time

Stage 11 - depends on the route after the Croix-de-Fer but this is the best stage and it says it all

Stage 12 - no

Stage 14 - no

Stage 16 - a few seconds, Pantani of 1998 gained 20 seconds on a group of 10

Stage 17 - if Bales+Peyresourde then ok, from the other side it's only 9km or so of climbing

So in reality 4 stages to recover more than a few seconds where 1 is a single climb stage and 2 are less than 145 km long and the final 1 ends on a downhill
