I thought that the German Eurosport commentators were going to have a collective orgasm at the finish. They were so excited at the prospect of Greipel taking on Cavendish head to head.

Actually, whether they made it through without expiring was more exciting than the race.

That was possibly the least exciting final I've ever seen.

I thought it was beautiful work by HTC.

Greipel probably could have won that though if Gilbert had worked for him but it wasn't going to happen with Phil in the points jersey.

Vino was there as well...

I am fairly sure VIno was in the front group, i saw one Astana jersey and it look the shape of him, plus I never saw the Astana riders in that second group take a turn on the front, I would imagine he was there, they would have TTT. We will find out in a second.

such poor tactics.

leave uran up front in case.
tools.

they more or less have no gc hope now.

PS: there goes rabo's back up plan
I'm pretty sure Uran was involved in the crash as well, so they didn't have the option of leaving him up front.

Trivia Question:

What was the name of David Brent's old band in the TV series 'The Office'.

Hint:

It has something to do with today's stage.

Cavendish scored maximum points today, good for his points jersey challenge.

Greipel was super strong today, I agree that he deserves more support in the sprint than he seems to get. If he had a Renshaw or a Thomas leading him out he would get a lot more wins.

Cav just heard that Wiggins crashed out and swore on live TV.

did you even watch the sprint?

it was easy!! once cav sprints he smokes greipel easy...
everything under control.

serious you are so biased.

anti cav anti contador without a single valid argument.
your view is disturbed.
Did you see how early Greipel went and from how far back? That was a very impressive sprint and he showed good instincts considering his position. Cav is the best by far, but he had this one wrapped up and presented to him on a platter by his train.

Greipel ought to have a train. If he had had one today, he would have won.

He went from an absolutely long way out, at least 50-75 m before Cavendish came off the wheel and he was 6 riders back.

He looks like the only one outside of Farrar who might can be competitive with Mark.

So depressing. I hate seeing the GC affected by such a throw away stage.

Yeah. :( Often these stages are ridden carefully by teams protecting their GC hopefuls and most everyone gets home safe. Today was awful.

cav saying that he had to do his shoelaces up just before the intermediate sprint. Found it difficult to recover from that sprint in time for the finish.

Looked really upset on being told that Wiiggins crashed, i dont think Cav knew anything other than there was a crahs.

It seemed he panicked today and fired too soon. Though he was a bit back, and risked getting caught behind slower guys if he didn't move when he did.

I can't even describe how much I hate listening to Cavendish talk.
Basically, if you listen to him once is enough, he'll repeat himself over and over (pathetic).

Don't think I've seen or heard his name mentioned what with Wiggins and all. Assumed he was still in the front group.

He was on sporza they mentioned him before they even niticed Wiggins was involved. There were a bunch of sky riders involved in the crash.
