Really a miracle that F.Schleck hasn't fallen yet

Someone falls when it's wet and Cancellara immediately demands no one goes more than 20 kph downhill. I am getting tired of that.

Favorites? Who's out that had a reasonable chance to win? Podium maybe. Either way, the attrition rate is about the same as always,. Wiggins going out was a bummer but sometimes cycling is like that.

I know, it bites when the cold facts are against you.. so you just move the goal posts a little

Once again, name a TdF where so many top ten candidates were hospitalized.

Is there any mountain that they could use?

Lots. Alsace for example, or Central Massif. ASO is always using excuse of only having Alps and Pyrenees but half of France consists of medium mountains.

because he'd get reeled back in by an angry gilbert. still it's ridiculous what if voeckler is in yellow tonight with 10 minutes? he could very well podium

Considering Gilbert will be a major loser from today ... That says it's not just leopard trek.

Gilbert needed the break back to have a chance at green. He needs max points here where cav will get none - and now he won't get many.

Did sanchez get injured? Did Contador get injured? Hell did anyone crash out?

No to all of them. There's quite a difference between a crash causing some lost time and a crash where at least 3 riders are so badly injured they can't continue.

Yes in one instance they take advantage of a crash and in the other they softpedal without it making any difference, because the damage has already been done.

VdB2 and Vino :(

EDIT

Only just catching up with this - that is a pretty elite breakaway - will be difficult to catch them

Why does it matter if it is top ten candidates?

I have to agree. Crashes are terrible and I do appreciate the etiquette of not attacking or pushing the pace after a large fall, but the race shouldn't shut down for an hour every time someone goes over.

At least he bettered himself by a couple of days...

and samu sanchez, he seems very strong to me

Possibly. Isn't he like two and a half minutes down? But that won't mean much come the big mountains.
