I doubt Cavendish will make on stage 3.

Stage 2 looks worse than expected.

Where's the 5th "hilly" stage? Albi? Is stage 2 a "hilly" stage?

Yeh Stage 2 has the epic Vizzavona, so is considered hilly, or even high mountain. Agreed the finish is bad, could have been a very hard finish.

Albi is "medium mountains", but all in the middle, deliberately voided the hills closer to the finish.

This route is a lack of anything.

First week is one single borefest
Pathetic TTes, ridiclously short
No classic stage types what so ever
Pyrenees are a disgrace for the 100th edition.
220 km flat run into Ventoux:rolleyes:
Far too many short stages, far to less really long ones
No mountain stage to get really excited about
So many super flat stages. If at least some of them had a decent length as a triubute to the past
No Vogeses
No Massif central
....

ok i give it to you, you are being reasonable this time :p

I'm a bit disappointed they don't have any stages in the north and and Alsace/Lorraine, but I guess that's to be expected since they had it last year. I just think Ballon d'Alsace would have been nice for the 100'th edition.

I'm very disappointed that they (like last year) don't include any high mountains (I thought last year was bad in this respect with Tourmalet being the highest but figured they'd rectify it this year and then Pailheres is the highest mountain of the tour at 2001 m?).

I'm wondering what stages 5-7 and 10-14 are like. I guess we'll know in June.

Seems like an OK route overall but a bit underwhelming.

Typical Tour de France MTN stage.

btw, all the stage profiles are on the official site, unlike normal.

EDIT: I was wrong

And again they didn't include a hard stage in the first week to get some perspective about the gc chances of everyone.
Think it's safe to predict some mass crashes in the first week and when they come to the first MTF about 20 riders will already have abandoned the race. Smart move from Wiggo to do the Giro next year.

For now I rate the route 6/10.

-1p because of lack of at least one really hard all-day mountain stage with a MTF.

-1p because of pretty lame first week

-2p because of far too many flat stages and because a suspect that the so-called hilly stages are fairly easy.

Cav is going to win 9 stages

What's the record on a single Tour? I think he can beat that record this year

The record is 8. I very much doubt he is going to beat it.

Boring...for 220km, probably more. Why flat all the way leading up to Mont Ventoux?

Why not?
Some stages are long and some are short. I don't really get what the big deal is.

Read my question and you will understand what I mean.

Final climb is good but does not do much for me.

The likes of Gilbert, Boonen, Chavannel and even Sagan can stay at home.

Obviously Boonen and Chavanel will be working for Cav but I think it's a bit premature to say for the others.
