The likes of Kreuziger and Bennati may well do that but I suspect that the fireworks will come from the stage hunting teams like FDJ, Europcar, Trek, IAM, OPQS and Orica. This has the potential to be an absolute cracker with the Maillot Jaune on the line.

With Sky's inability to read chaotic stages/classics this could end up hurting them early.

this.thats why they should have Bernie in the squad, esp stage 5 will be really chaotic and with just one cobble rider and no real road captain it could be devastating for Sky.

Said the same thing before the Giro last season where at the time it also sounded way too optimistic, and where he got fairly close, so might do the same again, though I also think stagehunting and no GC-focus would be a better option for Trofimov rather than ending up in the low end of top 20. But I guess he might be able to do both to some decrea.

Nice that Kristoff will have more support than usual! He has told Norwegian media that he would prefer to have Paolini and Porsev as his helpers in the Tour. He got them both and Smukulis and Isaychev will also be able to provide support on the flatter stages.

Green jersey for Kristoff and polka dots for Purito?

Any news about the Saxo?

Contador, Kreuziger, Roche and Rogers are safe. Hernandez and Benatti should be secure as well. Then you have Nicki, Tosatto, Paulinho, Matti and Morkov to choose from. They might choose the three veterans. They are good engines. Not that Matti and Morkov are bad, but the tour is generally for the older riders. The average age will be about 30, if not a little more, overall.

The Brits are throwing a tantrum on the NetApp facebook page because they aren't taking Bennett and another brit i have never even heard off before.

They are being pretty rude to the guys that have been selected and team management

Also lol at them saying in that article on CN that the goal is a top 15 place and they are giving Konig 4 domestics to help him

I guess they are simply acknowledging that there are a lot of guys who are doing good right now. IMO top 15 is the best he can hope for.

*ahem*

10ch

If they best you can do is a top 15 place then you shouldn't be going for GC, you should be going for stages.

Who remember's Monfort's Tour? No one. But most people remember Costa's Tour or even Riblon's Bakelants and all that.

Scott Thwaites is from Yorkshire hence the annoyance. Personally I think that Net App have missed a very good marketing opportunity by not including him. He is a good rider who would probably have been empowered by being selected.
Sam Bennett is Irish not British by the way.

Meh /care, i didn't even bother to check where he was from.

Like i said i have never even heard of the guy before, so saying he should be in the team instead of guys with a few GT's of experience seems pretty stupid to me.

It would also be a slap in the face of the guys with the results this year and particularly at last year's Vuelta which is what got NetApp their Tour wild card.

They didn't take Bennett to any of the typical "warm-up" races so it's not a surprise to see him off the list.

Though imo he really should've been in the TDF, he's looked quit impressive this year.

As for Thwaites, the only reason to pick him is the marketing angle. On ability he doesn't derserve to be picked over anyone Net App selected so people can't really be too dissapointed ...

Out of the 4 wins Net App have this year, 3 are from Bennett. (The other being Machados overall at Slovenia.)

Who's it a slap in the face of exactly ? :p

I honestly thought Bennet was going, deservedly, although he would have little no chance of winning a stage against Sagan, Kittel and Cav. My real issue was with the other guy and how some were reacting as if NetApp had left the Irish/whatever version of Quintana at home.
