Katusha won't chase breakaways; "We're not going to control the race for Joaquim because our main objective is next week" JAzevedo @letour

So Purito in the breakaway. Just what i thought.

Except that the following sentence in the same quote from Azevedo is:

"If there's a breakaway, he won't go in it but if we're all together at the bottom of the climb and he has an opportunity, he will take it for sure."

Breakaway prospects look good to me.

What a stupid decision. If his legs are good, why not try to go in the breakaway? Mr. Azevedo doesn't decides that

I think they want Purito fresh for Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday - i.e, be in the breaks all of those days for the polka dots as that's the only way someone that can't climb with the GC favourties will be able to win the jersey.

But after the this stage you have got two stages where he can take it 'easy', and after that there is a rest day. So i rather give it a shot.

And i think Purito will be capable to climb with the GC favorites on the stage to Alpe d'Huez. Especially if the temperatures will drop. If he's in a good position in the polka dots competition, imo he will try to climb with the GC favorites on the stage to Alpe d'Huez and trying to scoring points that way. I think Quintana really wants to win that stage, just as Contador. And Vino said Nibali is targeting that stage too.

I don't think Sky will chase a break, I think they will lift the pace for the ladt two climbs but not for stage, and I can't think of who else will chase.

Nibali had money robbed, not a good tour for him. I wonder if Vino still owes Kolobnev money...

Crash split the group. Gesink and Pinot involved. Morabito has had to abandon
Can't tell what's worse, to happen even before the racing has begun, or at the heat of the moment.
He could've shown himself in a breakaway these days.

Poor Morabito. He certainly would have tried to join breakaways in the Alps, it's a pity he has to abandon.

Froome really, really wants that stage too. Let's hope we'll get a repeat of 97

Ah this could be Gesinks moment. A crash that really hurts him and puts him out of contention of a solid top 10.

I have no idea how serious it was, but I just feel it.... The guy just has to have some more bad luck.

It was already getting ridiculous a long time ago. Don't know what to say now.

ofcourse Gesink crashes. This will be the end of his top 10 or possible top 5.

The bad luck never ends.

I agree with you that it's stupid that they won't let him in the break on this stage or chase for him.

5 in the lead including Sagan and Barguil - only 18 seconds ahead and with Barguil there i can't see them being let go.
