If there's one thing Thomas can't do, it's sprint.
Only beat Farrar here![]()
Ah that explains a lot, was wondering how Nuyens won the sprint, were they caught on the line, looked online for a video of it but didn't find anythingqwerty16 said:Eagle said:http://www.procyclingstats.com/race/Dwars_Door_Vlaanderen_2011SlickMongoose said:AICA ribonucleotide said:Geraint Thomas to get up the climb with the rest of the GC group and outsprint everyone on the flat.

That was a breakaway. Farrar won the sprint for third place.

Son of Amsterhammer said:The break better have a very strong climber in it with 60 secs+ I think. Otherwise the Sky train is going to run them over. That is steep stuff. Hard to look past Froome on this one. Would be shocked if another GC guy beat him here (though not unhappy).

Arredondo is no chance. He doesn't have the form. He'll peak at the Vuelta.

Oh I don't know he was a random pick as climber who's GC is long gone. Of course the big boys would have to let him go to stand any chance.
Anyway he's not in such bad shape, he finished with Contador on Huy and was up there towards the very end of the stage Vuillermoz won iirc.

So Purito in the breakaway. Just what i thought.
Maaaaaaaarten said:Hopefully Wellens will finally show himself today. This stage should be good for him. He isn't going to beat the big guys up the final climb but he could do well from the break or if he anticipates and gets involved in some late move before the final climb.

He also said that Purito won't be in the breakaway.

Except that the following sentence in the same quote from Azevedo is:
"If there's a breakaway, he won't go in it but if we're all together at the bottom of the climb and he has an opportunity, he will take it for sure."
Breakaway prospects look good to me.
