Geraint Thomas to get up the climb with the rest of the GC group and outsprint everyone on the flat.

If there's one thing Thomas can't do, it's sprint.

Only beat Farrar here

That was a breakaway. Farrar won the sprint for third place.
Ah that explains a lot, was wondering how Nuyens won the sprint, were they caught on the line, looked online for a video of it but didn't find anything

The break better have a very strong climber in it with 60 secs+ I think. Otherwise the Sky train is going to run them over. That is steep stuff. Hard to look past Froome on this one. Would be shocked if another GC guy beat him here (though not unhappy).

I'd say probably closer to 2 minutes. The peloton will absolutely drill it from the bottom of the Croix Neuvre

The break has a pretty good chance here. Not too many teams with motivation to chase. Maybe Katusha if Rodriguez is confident, but a strong break could definitely go all the way.

Talansky at 300-1 and Kangert at 66-1 will do me just fine.

Valverde the best of the GC guys.

I foresee the break being caught, but then a non-gc threat being allowed a moment of hesitation by Porte/Thomas to get away. Maybe Arredondo.

Arredondo is no chance. He doesn't have the form. He'll peak at the Vuelta.

Oh I don't know he was a random pick as climber who's GC is long gone. Of course the big boys would have to let him go to stand any chance.
Anyway he's not in such bad shape, he finished with Contador on Huy and was up there towards the very end of the stage Vuillermoz won iirc.

He hasn't been in any break and the mountains jersey was a goal for him. As he hasn't hunted points that tells me that he doesn't have form.

Re: Re:

Can't argue with that, didn't know he was aiming for polka dots. In which case he's doing a terrible job :)

I hope Kelderman can do something, but that seems unlikely given his efforts yesterday. I'd be delighted if Talansky or a Yates pulls something out the bag. Basically I like Purito as much as the next man but I don't want to see the predictable again.

Hopefully Wellens will finally show himself today. This stage should be good for him. He isn't going to beat the big guys up the final climb but he could do well from the break or if he anticipates and gets involved in some late move before the final climb.

Katusha won't chase breakaways; "We're not going to control the race for Joaquim because our main objective is next week" JAzevedo @letour

So Purito in the breakaway. Just what i thought.

Doubt, been terrible all year and he's more busy pitying himself than anything else

Really  So they are hoping other teams (Movistar, Cannondale) will reel the breakaway in...

Except that the following sentence in the same quote from Azevedo is:

"If there's a breakaway, he won't go in it but if we're all together at the bottom of the climb and he has an opportunity, he will take it for sure."

Breakaway prospects look good to me.

What a stupid decision. If his legs are good, why not try to go in the breakaway? Mr. Azevedo doesn't decides that
