alpe d'huez is a very irregular climb. the profiles from tdf are averages for 1k and hide several passages of 15-16%. this is pure climber land. froome has already peaked, looked weak yesterday, was weak weak today. also the intimidation by haters in the crowd can be a problem. nairo wins the stage, KOT and the tour

Quintana to attack with 5-6k to go, gain a minute.
Froome second, and gain mountain jersey and retain maillot jaune
Nibs, Contador, Valberde together

Not fair to compare them, I spent close to an hour on this

I think Nibali will attack tomorrow again or try something if he has any energy left. Podium is in hes reach. His form seems to improve everyday now.

Critical tomorrow for Froome, if his team mates are not dropped with the regularity we saw today. He stands a good chance of winning, Poels contribution today saved the tour for Froome.

My official prediction.... There will be many drunk people on Alpe d'Huez.

I hope Bardet can sneak out enough points to keep the polka dot jersey. He really impressed me today by beating Valverde to the line for fifth. He really needs to get the CdF points tomorrow, but can he hang on enough to preserve his lead on AdH with double points on offer? Tough task.

Unfortunately I think Froome will win the stage. I do believe he has been targeting this stage since the beginning. Quintana has said he will attack earlier than he did today though....should be a fun stage to watch regardless.

If Nairo gains 2 mins 39 on Froome and Nibali beats Valverde by enough to gain 3rd then my podium predictions before the tour will be correct

Quintana will enough time to be 1'20 behind in the GC. Meaning he would've won without the echelon stage. So we can say Froome won the Tour in Holland

I'm gonna say Quintana for now other reason than I want that to happen.
Okay, granted; what I really want is for the Bird to win, but let's be reasonable here.

Fun fact: the last two times there has been a finish on Alpe d'Huez France has gotten its first stage win (in that Tour) on that stage. Rolland in 2011 and Riblon in 2013.

In that case I hope the French gendarmerie is ready to get rid of all the dutch 'fans' on the Alpe.

I think Quintana will win the stage by about a minute with Froome second and Nibali taking the third place in this stage with just enough to claim the third place in the GC

No.

Stage 18: South climb, northern descent (only Col du Glandon)
Stage 19: Northern climb, eastern descent (both Col du Glandon and Croix de Fer)
Stage 20: Eastern climb, southern descent (only Col de la Croix de Fer)

This is the reason for there to be so many people on the descents the last two days.

Sounds convenient, it looks more likely he's suffering a bit in the last two days, while Quintana is quite strong in the 3th week as usual.
And what that a mechanical anyway? Or Andy gear shifting technique?
