I think they want to save Basso for the climb. De Jongh said before the TTT they would save one for the end.

Froome pulling for ages. Absolutely making a joke of this race, he's so strong this July. Flats, hills, cobbles and soon mountains. Let's hope he doesn't kill it on stage 10.

I would think that would be who you would use up in the first part if you were Tinkoff, no? Guys like Valgren and Sagan will be good engines for the grinding climb at the end, and Majka, Kreuz, Rogers are good climbers who can shelter behind them. Seems like things are doing okay.
