Bardet had 13 seconds in time bonuses, which without those seconds (Landa had none) he would be off the podium.

This stat, although he came up one second short makes Landa's ITT yesterday into a masterpiece. Landa did everything he needed to do on the road to get on the podium while at times dragging Froome along with him. The fact that Bardet hung on by one second to a spot he didn't deserve after that awful ITT should hopefully raise more questions about those stupid time bonuses in the Tour.
Well that's basically how Grand Tours works. You have good days and you have bad ones.

Landa's first week was not good for a podium contender, I wouldn't belittle him for that if he was one second ahead.

"Sky's team kit looks like the flag of the Vatican, make of that what you will"

"When I saw that champagne, I thought it was a specimen"

Carlton sounds like he's had a few drinks himself, sounds like terry wogan commentating eurovision and firing a few shots

If that's the way GT's work then why did Pruddhome do away with all time bonuses after the 2007 Tour and go to "true time on the road"? The ASO revived them for some reason in the past couple Tours and I don't like them for a few reasons, not just for Landa's sake. I like the "actual time" model, not the gimmicks.

I was never a Mikal Landa fan before this Tour, but I am now.
That ITT shouldn't overshadow what was an excellent Tour for Bardet...

I'm not in favor of time bonuses, as stated in the OP for both of my TdF designs. Time is to be gained on the road. But the rules here are what they are, all the riders knew it, agreed with the rules when lining-up.

I feel bad for Landa, but if I were to blame anything or anyone, it would be Froome's attack bringing the other ones back on l'Izoard, then losing the 6 seconds to Romain in the sprint.

According to the route they just displayed, the race will be going THROUGH a building, the Grand Palais. This is where they will first enter the circuit, rather than along the quai. That will be interesting.

Grand Palais passage at 18h

This is on the route today. The peloton will ride THROUGH the building to enter the Champs.

This is nauseating. I wish they'd just race this stage like a normal one.

That would be so fun, waiting for the last 100 m for something to happen, like we didn't have enough of those finishes this Tour...
