Yeah that was GVA's explanation as well, that he was actually unlucky that this happened with Peter. That's utter *** and GVA trying to find excuses again, as always when he gets beaten. Instead of just saying Peter was incredibly strong yesterday and there was nothing he could do about it.

In Flanders maybe, but here GvA would probably not be able to stay on his wheel. They were going quite "slow" and the initial kick that unexhausted sagan has is more visible when starting from lower speed. It's different compared to situation, when there is chasing peloton coming from the back, where sagan can't ease himself a little bit, then of course GvA is able to hold his rear wheel and the eventually come out of the slipstream to surpass him.
