It is a pity that Nathan Brown has 3 points in kom. Would be hilarious to see Sagan in Polka dot. :D
Why is that a pity? He earned those points fair and square..
It's a pity for those who would fancy seeing Sagan leading KOM at the TdF for a day or two. Wasn't it obvious from the post above?

I can't tell if you're trying to be a smartass or really asking a question.

It really doesn't matter because the person that posted the comment clarified before you posted this anyway.

Moving on...

I assume this isn't hard enough for Dan Martin? He was 40/1 this morning and I'd be kicking myself if I missed it.

I think the odds tell the story. He could get a little gap I think on the steepest section, but he'd get caught very shortly after. Wouldn't shock me to see him near the front for a while though today.

Was getting a bit nervous there

Haha! Yes, great effort by DM there. Damn close in the end!

Porte top end power put AC into the lactic acid. Froome did his usual rev it up till the finish and actually had more in the tank than AC of Porte, but Porte dug deep early. Sagan is, well, a phenom.

I see AC loosing a bit of time to those two on Weds.

Likely, with Froome on his wheel and Aru slogging it out a few seconds back. Contador, Fugslang and Bardet all in the mix too, and Quintana just behind Froome or with Aru.

Great final kilometers. I agree with the other comments...it had Valverde written all over it. In any case, nice win for Sagan, and good to see Bertie up front.

Until the end, my boy Nono was in the picture: he lost too much energy in the steep part and couldn't close the gap in the end. Still, chapeau Arnaud.

The extent to which Martin is forgotten about/underestimated on this forum never ceases to amaze.

Indeed Martin will be doing very well.

This forum is no indication of a riders ability or prospect or form
It is full of people with bias ...directed at their favourites and also the 'latest' find ...mostly so they can say I am in early on this guy ..I know my cycling ..

Don't worry many people not on here are behind Dan Martin

Yeah you're right, I apologise. In my defence I almost forgot Quintana (in fact I keep forgetting he is in this race) so it could be that I'm just generally having an off day.

This is the Tour, the level is too high for Valverde. Sagan would have won regardless.

Martin almost there... again....

He always seems to come from too far back

He's so frustrating to follow... he could have three times the number of big wins if he could reliably start these climbs in the first ten places. I thought once he signed for Quickstep he'd have a load of Belgian lumps with tree trunks for legs to drop him in position and the problem would go away, but he's as bad as he ever was.

I still think he's looking great for a high GC finish unless he crashes (the other reason why it's frustrating to follow him, also over-exuberant attacks, although you gotta love him for that).

I think Dan does incredibly well, with what he's got. He has a grint that is hard to find elsewhere. One can only say chapeaux. Win, or no win.

I wasnt impressed by Sagan considering the way Matthews closed that gap in the end. I caøt help but to think Valverde would have challenged Sagan today and won, but what can you do. Sucks.

Sagan hits the front with 400m to go, unclips at 200m and still wins.

"I wasn't impressed by Sagan".

smh.

Yes, I genuinely wasn't that impressed with Sagan. Even with the unclip thats what you expect against this opposition when Bala and Alaphilippe aren't present.

Even with the unclip?  What?! How does that even make sense.

In fairness, people forgetting about/underestimating him was a big reason he won Lombardia out of a group with Valverde, Gilbert, Sanchez etc etc.

Just saw the finish now, looks to me like Contador lost Porte's wheel coming out of that sharp bend near the finish. After that, only he knows then whether it was a lack of power, or just deciding to let others behind close the gap. I suspect a combination of the 2; "Damn, I let that gap open. I probably can't close it. Won't bother trying, somebody else will come over."
