Why aren’t there 5 sunweb guys in front of Dumoulin right now?

Because he’s amongst the cars, easier to make your own way then, by drafting car to car

Even so, he still needs to get to the front of the peloton. Also he wouldn’t need to draft his own team car again...

Normally, teammates will wait at the back of the peloton, to tow him to the front, when the captain is amongst the cars.

Further back, they would drop back, but as said, amongst the cars, it’s easier without teammates

Seems like Dan Martin will abandon
Seems like he doesn't fancy his chances for the GC fight today. I think he's hoping to survive today and hunt stages later on? At least try and make it to the rest day

Well if I was the DS at UAE then Matin would have retired from the TDF - Was already going to struggle on the cobbles and be out of the GC race - He's already won a stage and should rest up for the Vuelta in which he can achieve a good GC result.

Any description of Richie's fall?
Not clear. A whole bunch of them went down and it looked like they tangled with some spectators as well
Spectator makes the story worse.
It's Roubaix stage, after all.

Tom is a **** idiot, already got time penalty and doing same thing again in plain sight ... lmao
Given that the time penalty was probably less than the time he saved by following the car, he might as well keep doing it.

Just hoping that no more of the GC guys get injured, would be a real shame for the rest of the race if more guys got taken out.

Apparently it's OK to draft behind cars, but Tom was penalized because it was during a crucial part of the race. The rules regarding drafting are just crap.

Could the reason for all the crashes be the fact that the top GC contenders and mountain domestiques ride so few races in a peloton each year? I mean, this stuff happens in amateur races all the time but you would assume the pro peloton would be able to avoid it. Or is it just the tdf bringing out the extremes of competitiveness and nerves?
