Re: Tour de France 2019 stage 7: Belfort > Chalon-sur-Saône

That turn on the front that Van Aert did between 6km and 2km was absolutely incredible.

Admittedly he was effectively giving Rowe, Thomas and Bernal a free ride so tactically not great but he's clearly the strongest guy in the peloton.

It really is looking like Ewan might be the fastest here if he could ever get his positioning right.

His positioning was fine today. He went moments behind Groenewegen's jump, and made up the difference right away, but it's not like he had more speed crossing the line, or would have won if the line was 40m further. They were going the same speed by the time they got over the finish

Contradictory, the impressive leadout by QuickStep seemed to be the reason why Viviani had no chance of winning. He started his sprint too late and got overwhelmed by the competition.

Congratulations to Groenewegen. Nice sprint by Philipsen too. Another one that'll bring Belgium joy in the future, but we knew that already.

Greipel 12th. Will he sprint top ten this Tour de France once more?

Don't think so... Groenewegen matched his speed, despite catching some headwind and Ewan was still covered behind Viviani/Sagan.
But Ewan covered more distance in that time, moving to the right around a couple guys and then moved back left while Groenewegen was going in a straight line. In any case, not much between the 2 of them.
