Weak breakaway, boring stage, no GC battle, I guess I'll have to watch Wimbledon.

F1 qualification for me ;)

You should check out the F2 race today also, it starts 10 minutes after the f1 quali, its been really exciting this year.

Well this is dissapointing. I expected at least hour battle for breakaway and huge group. This is like flat stage break. This stage is tailor-made for break. De Marchi versus De Gendt today it seems.

That's a very strong quartet up front, with a decent tailwind. I don't think a single team is strong enough to bring them back

There are better climbers in the peloton if they wanna race, we will have to see if any team or someone wants to make it a hard race or not though

Same scenario as in stage 5. Bora and Sunweb working for a Sagan vs. Matthews sprint.

So I guess Matthews plans a late attack today? He has been hopeless in (flat) sprints so far. Everything else would be strange with Sunweb working again.

Well, I had two guys right: De Gendt and De Marchi, but one hardly needs to be a clairvoyant for that. De Marchi would deserve to win a TdF stage as a reward for his eternal attacking spirit.

A considerable amount of vertical metres today and punchy conclusion. Bora and Sunweb might get a thank-you note at the end.

Damn, this is boring. I didnt expect fireworks, but at least something.
There's still a hope. Those 2nd cat climbs that come later might be too hard for Sagan - if some team decides to explode the race a go for a stage win. Astana or Alaphilippe could try something.

Emm...he may have been training on mountain terraine and is confused but his climbing is not at a level of some riders in the peloton , not even in his own team

Strategy will be to drop the sprinters and have a reduced sprint and hope they beat Sagan and Alaphillipe is not gone (or any other puncheur)

With what's happened so far, Sagan has to be gone for Matthews to have a chance imo. As he is probably the better climber of the two, he could try to force a selection himself in the final kilometers.

Maybe there should be a rule against teams blocking the entire road in the peloton. It should not be possible to prevent attacks from the peloton or attempts to catch a break-away by placing riders across the road as we saw today.

You don't need a rule, you just need to be in front of those wanting to block it
