Jens Voigt on German ESP said it hasn't rained in a while on these roads.

Except that by the tine those races roll around, there will have been enough rain BEFORE the race to wash the oil off the roads. Not so here—first day of rain after dry period so roads extra slick.

It's the French riviera dude, of course it doesn't rain often

Are you positive it's the first after a long time?
I'm not limiting the weather impact just to slippery roads.
Speaking generally.

Wonder if the thing would look different should the riders had a full racing season in their legs.
