Tibopino for the break then perhaps? Assuming he's recovered from whatever ailed him last week?
looks unlikely. He said he can only push for half an hour, if at all, and is happy not to be worst in the peloton. His back is still causing big problems

Thankfully the road runners haven't been as obvious this year............so far.
ASO have brought in security.

I don't think it was this year's side of Madeleine in 2013. I think this is the first time they go via Montgellafrey. Not that it really matters, they are basically identical.

The day he has been preparing for is here. He's going long...

He’s first of a small group over the Madeleine; then on the Loze takes off on his own and rides to glory, winning the stage by around five minutes.

Yes, it’s true... Benoît Cosnefroy is the King of the Mountains.

(Just in case that doesn’t happen, maybe Pog takes around thirty seconds out of Rog after Méribel, and if Dani Martinez isn’t up the road, he takes another stage.)

Nothing makes a stage like Madiot on a mountain top screaming out a car window

Dont think much will happen in terms of attacks.

I think anyone thats been digging too deep on the past stages, will be found out naturally on these climbs.

The real story of the day is about the quested and fashionable polka dot jersey!

There's going to be a fight - right?

Okay, in the end of the day, who's going to wear them? Pogacar? Roglic? Urán?
Will Roglic be in dots in Paris, because Pogacar won the KOM but also the overall?

I really love this so far:
Act 1 setting and introduction of the main characters. The problem subtly shows itself: Cosnefroy takes the jersey as soon as possible, but Perez is close and they fight to be King of the Mountains on a poggio near Nice by becoming 276th instead of 277th.
Act 2 first turn and rise of the problem: they get in a break together and battle each other for points, but then Perez, in front, has a mechanical before the last mountain sprint, has to catch up, crashes into his team car and is out of the competition
Act 3 time for sub-plot: battle for green
Act 4 problem grows until suspense is at its highest: Cosnefroy holds on... and on... even though he fails to get into the breaks, falls out of them if he gets in, and hangs at the back or in the gruppetto all day
Act 5 solution: ?

If no team attacks Jumbo then it's going to be Kuss and Dumoulin driving the peloton until some 3km to go when Pogacar will attack. But if someone dares (Astana, Bahrain...), we could get a proper race.
