I mean, I would wish this could go to the break but I just don't see it. If yesterday was harder and the teams more tired, possibly. But in fact despite yesterdays profile I think they had a really easy day and with 80 kilometers to go after that final 3rd category climb they could even take it easy on the hard part of the stage and still should be able to easily catch the break.

Really what I would rather be hoping for is for a team of a better climbing sprinter to make the race hard at the beginning to drop some of the heavier guys. But as Sagan doesn't seem to be in the best of shapes I don't really know what team I should expect that from.

I understand Treks teamplayer approach, but with Mads Pedersens form I think it's an own goal
(and I'll eat my words if Stuyven Theuns wins )

Nizzolo has a good chance to finish top 3 in a sprint, this one is hard enough for him and atm he's in better shape than Trentin.

not sure really, he looked pretty bad during the stages so far, both Saturday as well as yesterday. He still had great speed in the end on stage 1, but I think he is struggling with some kind of health problems.

But yes, beating Trentin in a flat sprint should still be doable

While Theuns is a decent finisher he will never in a million years come close to victory in a Tour de France sprint field, and while Pedersen might be somewhat of an unknown quantity in bunch sprints he has shown in Poland and on Saturday’s stage that he can mix it up with the best of them on his day.

yeah, but Trek has always done that. Last year in the Eneco Tour, it was the other way around. Theuns finished 2nd the first day, and the day after they went for it with Pedersen instead (finishing 11th)
