Mads Pedersen saying in a prerecorded interview, that Trek do not believe it will be a real bunch sprint today, and that it will rather be a smaller group sprinting for the win, after the 2 climbs.

For that reason they are riding for Stuyven today, who has apparently called the stage as a target before the Tour started.

The 'bonifications' are so early and easy in the stage that I doubt any break will go until they're dished out.
Ya that's what I was thinking too. And if Sagan takes enough points to stay in green I wonder will Bora even bother trying to close the break later. It might be all down to LS to pace it with DQ and JV more worried about the GC men

Mørkøv said before the stage that DQ is going to focus more on defending the jersey, than making sure it's a sprint.

Nice little detail on Viviani's sleeves; what do you do when you have a guy who's both former European Champion, and National Champion? Put on band on each sleeve! (No clue what Sagan does...)

And that had absolutely nothing to do with the stage, but even I gotta admit that... not much happening right now!

The organisers won't like it. Perhaps even less sprint finishes in the future? The problem is that france is flat in a lot of areas :D

As Dennis Ritter on Danish television pointed out; at some point organisers might tell the Wild Card teams to "Eeeh... guys! You're the breakaway guys. Go!"

(Still hoping that the guys doing the IS will just stay away if the get a gap.)

the other day I saw that over at UAE Aru has Italian National Champion sleeves, but Formolo not (yet), by the way. I guess they just didn't prepare his jersey on time?!

At long last, we've reached the point where not a single team wants to bother with breakaways on sprint stages with only combativity points on the line. Things are broken.
Not true at all. This is only happening today purely because of where the intermediate sprint is placed. After that has been dealt with, pretty much any muggings can go in the break if they so wish.

If we really spend the whole day without a breakaway I'd honestly expect Prudhomme to tell Direct Energie and Vital Concept that they're not getting a wildcard next year if they aren't getting into these kinds of breakaways.
