You have to give it to Ineos. Whenever there is crosswind you'll notice that Bernal is always positioned on the side of the road where the whole team is protected from the rest of the peloton.
Already found it completely stupid Jumbo were almost caught out on stage 5. It isn't hard to reckon a route. You spend an insane amount of resources to win the Tour, and then half the CN forum knows the route better than the DSs

Buchmann must feel pissed, no help for him in the mountains and then they go all in for Sagan.

I think Bora would benefit a lot from a 2nd green jersey contender, who isn't Bennett, in this group.

Wouldn't it make sense for someone to help Bora ? I mean there must be more teams being happy about sprinters being dropped ?

Mezgec is also in the front group, so Mitchelton could help. Though they don't have too many others there to pull...

I wonder if a team would want to turn it against Bora now. Does CCC have the team to drive it for Trentin on the long climb and drop Sagan?

Fingers crossed.

I suspect once they get somewhere more protected it'll fizzle out a bit, but still, then you have two things that would come from that even if it all came back together:
  1. the sprinters and their teams who had been caught out would have to work so hard to get back on that it would impact their leadouts and sprint ability, creating a more unpredictable final few kilometres either from encouraging late attackers or just a less controlled lead-in;
  2. the teams like Bora who did make the move now know who is vulnerable, and if we do have wind late in the stage they know what they are likely to be able to do if they do raise the tempo again.
If it doesn't come back together, Bora win out. If it does, Bora still have an advantage for later. This is why you test out your opponents' legs :)

The race is ON!

And Australian television decide to interview Mick Freaking Rogers.

I thought that would make your day :p
