Enric Mas managed to hang on with the front group too, actually. He has gone a bit under the radar, considering he is only 7-10 seconds behind the likes of Bernal, Dumoulin, Pinot, Nairo, Lopez and Uran (!).

That's right. The 2 Movistar riders there. We knew that Valverde would never give up GC time, Enric Mas is clearly flying under the radar.

They've probably talked this all over before the Tour and Van Aert probably agreed he wouldn't go for green. He's gotten two chances and got 2 wins so I don't think he has many reasons to complain.

Coming from Quik Step, he knows how to be in position. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him miss a split in the races I’ve seen.

I don't really understand the hate for Ala? From the helicopter shot it looks to me like he starts the sprint and keeps his line. Then there is a small collision with Stuyven where neither of them is in fault I think, there was just no space left. He lost his balance (or dropped chain or unclipped) and then he waves his arm in frustration yes but he still manages to keep his line and is not hindering anyone.

Unless I missed some parts I didn't see him swerve from left to right?

Yeah, I will concede I was being too harsh, it looked worse to me live

However, his reaction after getting bumped is not great, in the middle of a bunch sprint

If yesterday was boring, today was super exciting from start to finish. I was rather sad about Pogačar, but 1:20 is not a complete dissaster. If he is good enough uphill, podium is still possible. And now we will finally have someone (him and Landa) who will actually try to do something to gain time back. Other than that, Wout is amazing, working all day to get Roglič into position and then has enough energy to win the sprint.

Maybe but without dropping his chain he comes in 4th or 5th by the looks of it. So it makes sense if he contests sprints like this one.

A lot of Ninja's this Tour. Uran, Bardet, Quintana (one top-3, that was sloppy), Mas, Buchmann.
Pinot had his bad luck already, but today he (and his team) was impeccable.

I do hope for some non-ninjaing soon though.

In my opinion nobody's sneaking in or did not get enough attention so far... everyone who stayed up on his bike, is protected rider of his team and did not lose time today is in the top 15. Nobody had to show anything in the mountains yet. Should change tomorrow.
