So where did we get to with that rule?
Whenever Alaphilippe, WvA, MvdP and Pogacar are on the start line together, the race is always won by one of them unless Mads Wurtz Schmidt is there? Any other corollaries to that law?

I'm trying to work out the trajectory through the air whereby one can come off a bike and land on both knees. But it is too reminiscent of similar calculations in a thread last year revolving around falling and landing on one's penis.

It happened to me, although on a MTB. Over the bars after I lost my rear wheel on a rut in a straight descent (flat tire) and went hands and knees first to the ground.
The stupidest thing is that it happened the same thing two days in a row. Luckily I only stayed with 1 set of scars since the wounds were the same.

Damn. I didn't think about that, but it makes sense I guess. The yellow jersey switching from Ala to MVP to Van Aert would be pretty amazing. Then Pogacar or Roglic next? Underdogs fighting for the leader's jersey is nice to see occasionally, but real champions holding the lead is usually better.

He's going to have to beat Roglic by 17 seconds in the TT then.
Honestly, it's going to be tight (even with Alaphilippe who IMO has a good chance at retaking yellow on Wednesday as well, or someone like Uran who blew everyone to pieces in the Swiss TT).
I don't think Jumbo can pick & choose who they'd rather get yellow with on Wednesday. Primoz Roglic needs to go full gas & do his absolute best to compete with Pogacar this year (every second counts). If WvA gets the yellow, I'm also sure they'll be okay from a tactical standpoint, but they should also entertain the possibility Roglic himself could be in yellow in a couple of days time.

Doesn't make sense at all.
If he wants to take the yellow jersey the bonus he could take today and tomorrow would help massively. It's not like you waste a lot of energy doing a mass sprint compared to rolling in in 20th position.

I agree about the energy, but he could be sandbagging, and there's also risk managment. Can't win on wednesday if you break an elbow today.

Ewan, Cavendish, Merlier (or Philipsen), Demare, Pedersen, Bouhanni, Sagan, Bol, Van Poppel, Greibel, Colbrelli, Coquard, Laporte, Matthews, Walscheid and Turgis (did I forget someone?).
That's 15 sprint trains all fighting for the lead - on narrow wet roads - fun times ahead

Apparently you do, otherwise he would not use that argument.
I think sprinting takes more out of you than most know - even contesting an intermediate sprint 100K from the finish, can often mean the rider doesn't have enough for the final sprint.
