Pogi is going to sneak another couple of stages and high placements and win the green jersey - and miss the yellow in Paris by a handful of seconds.
I think the top 3 on GC will stay as is and I don't see the gap narrowing that much. he might get some time back in the TT but on the climbs I don't see it happening.

My little prediction is that he will get nothing or 2-3 seconds at most at Peyragudes. And then 30-45 seconds at Hautacam.

Matt White apparently said Bex didn't pull earlier because it would have looked like they were attacking the Ewan crash.

Yeah, right! :tearsofjoy:
Pull the other one, it's got bells on.

The fact is that Matthews is ill so they were riding for Groenewegen - They wanted to ensure Groenewegen got over the final climb before pulling - It's a risky play which does not always work.

You can't control the peleton or race incidents - They had Schultz in the secondary breakaway which got chased down by Alpecin, then when Ewan crashed that stopped the chase and then the GC riders blocked the final climb - That's racing - I don't understand why people are disappointed in Bex - They've had an excellent TDF with one stage win and three seconds, and there is the possibility of another stage win - I'll leave you with this scenario - They ride hard on the front of the peleton and on the climbs - Then you have Matthews VS Van Aert or you ride more sedately and you may have Groenewegen VS Ewan and Philipsen - Which scenario do you prefer ?

The second. They just waste energy in chases like that. The only good thing about it is that it keeps the pace high and lessens chances of crashes although one of the chasers almost lost it on a curve.

The second biggest achievement in Mads Pedersen carrier.. only topped by the world champion title in 2019.
quite unreal 3 danish stage-win with three different riders in only 4 days.
Perhaps, but I thought his commercial promoting bicycle helmet use was high on the list of achievements as well . . . ;)

Van Aert now has more green jersey points than second and third place combined, not sure I've ever seen that before.
Later in the race and more than 2nd, 3rd and 4th combined.

Thanks. I guess my memory is bad, I knew we were at the point of the green jersey being predetermined as long as Sagan didn't get thrown out again by then but I didn't remember him winning by margins quite that big.

You're right actually. I think they knew their best option was Schultz in the break, given Bling is ill and Groenewegen's climbing ability on these parcours.

Someone mentioned it earlier about Bex being annoyed at Alpecin chasing that secondary break, so they didn't join the chase with them once that was caught.

I suppose Matt White can't say that, so he makes up a story around the Ewan crash instead, which really is a complete nonsense, although rather convenient as a narrative.

GW sure, but KBK isn't even WT.
Well, if we care what the UCI thinks, it awards more World Ranking points for KBK than a stage of the tour (200 vs 120).

If we don't care about UCI then Mads remains unranked, having never won my local county line sprint.

Congratulations to Mads Pedersen for winning the stage.

P.S. Danes really are dominating this Tour edition.

Yes they're are doing well. I know Andersen won a couple stages but its been about 15 years before that since the Danes did so well. Congrats to them!
