What the motos just did to Rodriguez was even worse.

What the motos did in the last 500 meters before the top, is partly because the crowds are in the way; Accelerating would be very dangerous for the motos to hit someone. The main culprit is the race organiser not having any barriers in those ultimate 500 meters. Just look at the Vuelta where you see a cop every 50 meters holding the crowds back.
