Phillipsen is not the best sprinter in the world. His wins are very gifted by MVP.
I thought so but it proved otherwise.Everyone agreed this parcours was safe, yes?
it was a jokeNot narrow at all, just riders squezing each other against the barriers
Sprinters gonna do stupid sprinter stuff...lol those crashes.... narrow roads I guess.
chapeau MVP with Jasper
It's almost like rider behavior matters.I thought so but it proved otherwise.
If they can't ride safely round a motor-racing circuit with a 700m straight finish, then just stop all sprint stages.Absolute disgrace of a last 3K.
What was in the parcours builders’ effin’ minds?
how did the parcours cause the crashes???? what are you talking aboutEveryone agreed this parcours was safe, yes?
well it wasn't the riders going for the sprints, just seemed like the people at back drifting into each otherNot narrow at all, just riders squezing each other against the barriers
it was a joke![]()
Great teammate.VDP best leadout in the world now?
By being too safe, if that makes sense. Huge roads, high speeds, no line forming due to no corners. The perfect recipe for riders to not feel any sense of thought and just push and pull each other.how did the parcours cause the crashes????
I’ve done races on circuits like this and those were always crash-infested. You simply cannot race with a peloton in curves like this. These aren’t motorcycles or racecars with slicks. The only way to have a somewhat safe finish on circuits is when there are hills (Spa Francorchamps, Tokyo Olympics), but not a flat parcours with 180 curves. If they can't ride safely round a motor-racing circuit with a 700m straight finish, then just stop all sprint stages.
Sometimes you just need to give them a little slap, as Sean Connery would have said. This is all because they never relegate anyone. Big wide road and it's closer to WWE than cycling.
